This review is from: Action Battlefield (Audio CD)
I bought this on LP many years ago, and I still play it frequently. Ari Stepper (formerly of the Slits) produces an eery vocal effect throughout the album (the version of Shining Star is my favorite reggae song of all time). Sherwood's production blends many intriguing effects throughout each cut, especially his frequent, and stylish, use of backward-masking. This is definitely an album made for the headphones, and each time you should listen closely, for you will find subtle effects everywhere. If most reggae can be likened to Iron Maiden, this is Pink Floyd. If you are looking for a reggae album that is truly different than anything you have heard before, give this one a shot.
