Lately my friends have been going through a bad time...and I realized there was only one thing that could put a smile on their faces. The "Action Jackson" Soundtrack.

Much of the album is the sledgehammer funk so prominent in 1988. I dare you to play "Action Jackson" by Madame X to anyone and not have them crack up and dance along. Seriously folks, 80s pop music doesn't get any campier or fun than this track.

Elsewhere, the version of the Pointer Sisters' "He Turned Me Out" is has a bit longer of an intro than the album version found on "Serious Slammin'" Nothing better than listening to the sisters sing about finding a thrill at "Tony's Grill". I wonder if there really is a Tony's Grill?

Of course, the masterpiece of the soundtrack is Vanity's "Undress." This sole track is just as fun at the Vanity 6 stuff...and certainly much better than the uneven 'Wild Animal' disc (which NEEDS to be reissued on CD please!!)

I was very happy to be able to find a sealed copy of the soundtrack for one of my fave movies of the '80s: "Action Jackson". There are a lot of great artists on this soundtrack like: Vanity, Skyy, Sister Sledge, and many more! Being that it was made in the '80s on CD, it has a bit of a hard sounding edge to it. Back then, record companies were using the master for LPs on CDs, so it tended to make the bass fall flat, and the highs very bright. Even with this, it doesn't take away from the vast array of '80s R&B contained in this amazing soundtrack. If you are a fan of '80s R&B, this will be a great addition to your CD collection.
