Book Description

‘The Stash’ is an action packed adventure thriller with a mix of gangsters from London, Lagos, and Los Angeles that will keep you in suspense from the first page to the last. The story is unique in that it is told from both of our unwitting heroes’ perspective. Watch John and Alan fall deeper and deeper into a shadowy world of torture, kidnapping and murder.

THEY DON’T FIND TROUBLE, TROUBLE FINDS THEM!

John Simonds and Alan Shorey stumble across a kilo of cocaine while they are decorating a luxury apartment in Knightsbridge. Deciding to risk the wrath of the unknown owner, a psychopathic Nigerian crime boss, they steal ‘The Stash’ and unwittingly embark on a farcical but dangerous journey that takes them across continents!

Editorial Reviews

About the Author

My love for thrillers started at a very early age...and has only grown! I now enjoy writing novels just as much as I've enjoyed reading them over the last 30 years. The more complicated the plot the better and it has to have a good twist at the end. Dan Brown's 'The Lost Symbol' is 'my cup of tea' in that it has great characters, multiple plot threads and a great twist! Not only that, it encouraged me to think about the topics covered, and more importantly do my own research. Something I hope to achieve with my writing. A subject close to my heart is poverty and oppression in Africa, and I firmly believe that education is the key to breaking the cycle. Part of the proceeds from book sales will be used to back sustainable projects in remote areas - building schoolrooms, connecting permanent water supplies and installing sanitation.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good story line, but June 16, 2012
Format:Paperback
This was an interesting and compelling book; however, with some editorial help and some coaching, this author could take his efforts to a new and higher level. I liked the compelling manor of carrying the reader from one page to the next. I found some of the characters difficult to understand and not believable. The two primary characters, Alan and John were fairly well developed as were their ladies. More detail about background for all four would be appropriate for an effort of this length. Tunge needed some better development with efforts to get out from under his father's control. The father was not developed well and could have been better balanced. The "goons" could have been better balanced and better developed. For the most part, they did not seem human. I do hope Mr. Fletcher continues to write and develop his skill and gets some editorial help with spelling, dangling participles, misplaced punctuation and details. Grammer and spell-check could help.

Seriously, who edits this s***? Obviously someone who does not know the difference between too & to, there & their etc. Good story ruined by spelling and grammar errors. Too many Kindle books w/ errors and inaccuracies

3.0 out of 5 stars NOT ACTION PACKED November 12, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I don't know who dubed this book "action-packed", they lied! Action starts about 40% into the book! The ONLY reason I stuck with it was to get to the "action-packed" section. The characters are unlikeable petty thievies with depth of a rain puddle. Thank God I only paid $.99

3.0 out of 5 stars A little too simplistic January 23, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
The book did have action but was too predictable and too simplistic. The proof reading was horrible and sometimes funny. The outcome was never in doubt.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good action, poor editing. January 15, 2012

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Even allowing for Britishisms, there is a lot left to be desired in the editing of this book. Perhaps I'm the only one who got a Kindle edition that was loaded with misspellings, poor grammar and several nonsensical phrases and/or sentences. These were stumbling blocks for me, and I did not feel the story flowed because of them. It was downright awkward in some places.

I'm not really that much of a stickler for some typos and/or errors, but the number of these errors in The Stash really detracts from the story, in my opinion.

At any rate, I do enjoy the action, and the story premise is a good one. It was a nice touch to thank your proofreader so profusely, but she really needs a brush-up course in English.

Once you start reading The Stash, you won't be able to stop as it's captivating from beginning to end! The story features some interesting main characters and consists of several intertwined plots, without ever being too confusing to the reader. The author has a very natural style of writing, which makes reading this book a real treat.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hum drum October 29, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I wish I could say I loved this but I can only say it was ok. Easy way to spend a few hours. Although somewhat believable it does leave you flat at the end.
