As befits such a behemoth, the Brachiosaurus is one of the largest animals in Action Products' huge series of ingenious animal wood kits. Measuring 19 inches long, it comes in about 50 pieces. The rest of the series covers the zoological landscape from the mighty blue whale to the lowly mud dauber wasp. In each kit there are two to four thin sheets of plywood, with precut pieces you can easily press out, a small piece of sandpaper, and detailed diagrams that show you how to turn the pieces into a striking 3-D model. All models in the series will probably require some parental supervision: there are small parts, and impatience will lead to snapped pieces and emergency glue surgery. But the completed animals are so striking that it may be the adults who insist on acquiring the whole collection to display in the living room. --Richard Farr
