This Action Replay is a must have if you want to play Jap games on a US system or vise-versa. It has over 8000 blocks of memory to save your games, and is a gameshark as well. A very nice product, but a word of warning: It is best if you just leave the AR in your system as you will wear out the cart. slot taking it in and out at an alarming rate. And the only way to replace it is to find a parts satrun with a good cart slot!

Chances are if you've bought a Sega Saturn, you're a hardcore gamer; and, chances are, you bought it to enjoy the vast weath of hidden gems that can't be had elsewhere, nameley the fighters and imports. Problem is, not only are you a little short on memory theres a reigonal lockout that keeps you from playing some of the games.

Looking at the top of the back of the system you will notice an expansion slot, that's where is card comes into play. Let's break down what this card will do.

1 Memory expansion. The Saturn comes with a paltry amount of internal memory, I believe somewhere in the realm of 400 blocks. Bear in mind this can be filled up with only a few games, Virtua Fighter 2 alone takes up 185 blocks just for the settings; and sports games are notorious memory eaters. Think of it as the internal memory on the arcade unit of the 360 or the Wii. It will get you by for a short while, but intevitably you will need more memory. This card comes with 8000 blocks, more than enough to handle whatever is thrown at you.

2 Region code bypass. While the Saturn was considered a commercial failure here in the states, it was much more successful in its home country of Japan. It was supported from 1994-2000; in the states it was only supported from 1995-1998. Furthermore, because it's difficulty finding a market here, many of the great games never made it here. Games like the original Sakura Wars, Samurai Showdown IV, and Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter never were released outside of Japan. While some of the great titles never made it stateside, many of them were released in limited print runs and fetch a pretty high price even without a box or manual.

This add-on does in fact allow you to play Japanese Saturn games in a US system. All other features are extra to me. As old as these games are now, I can't imagine that the publishers care about import control anymore.

I got this for two reasons: 4mb expansion and lets you play imports. This thing is great because I don't have to mod the Saturn,it's not hard I just don't what to do it and mess it up.This is a must have when you play the capcom games like X-men vs. Street Fighter and Darkstalkers, these games require the 4mb expansion so they play like the arcade.I would recommend this to anyone who doesn't want to mod your Saturn and wants to play imports. It opens up a whole new world when you include the imports because their is allot of great games that never made it to America, plus the import game cases are compact and don't break like the U.S. Saturn large cases.

I got this to play import games and to save data. The only thing I don't like about it is that the Saturn doesn't recognize it as a memory card, so after saving to the internal RAM, you have to reset and manually transfer the data.

I don't use the cheat function, but I have had no problems from this.

Just as described, this thing is the best thing ever. My saturn has turned into a gaming station of immense power. The import scene on the saturn is just great, in my opinion obviously. Highly recommend this to anyone. Keep in mind it is old cartridge technology, be prepared to fiddle with it.

this product is almost perfect, the only reason that it doesnt get 5 stars is that you cant save directly to the backup memory from in game, you have to save to the saturns internal memory first then you can transfer it to the cart later, and then also you have to transfer it back to the saturns internal memory before the game will pick it up. in reference to the person who gave it 1 star and said that the import function didnt work, i can say they were wrong and it works just fine, i have a U.S. saturn and i have 4 pal games from New Zealand (virtua fighter 2, sega rally, nights and shining wisdom) and 1 game from Japan (Dragon force) and they all work fine, some of the pal games have other issues playing on an ntsc system but that has nothing to do with the action replay cartridge. i would say that the 1 star reviewer had a bad cartridge slot on their saturn, saturn consoles are know to have bad cartridge slots, so if you purchase one of these dont put it in and out of the saturn a whole bunch, just leave it in there or you will wear out your cartridge slot.
the cheat function is not something that i really care about or use, but it works just fine and is easy to use for those that like to cheat.

This Action Replay Plus card will let you not only save your games with the 8,000+ blocks(4Megs) of memory it will also let you play all import tiles from Europe or Japan on your Saturn..Also it will work with a title like KOF 96 that needs a 4meg card to play..So this is the only card you need and yes it is presetted with cheats and you can add more cheats to it as you find them..5 Stars for this item.
