This camera is very good for the price and the audience it is designed for. I have used this camera for everything from just taking random pictures of people and events, video taping roller coasters, mountain biking, adventure running and skateboarding. Considering that I wasn't sure I even wanted an adventure camera and didn't want to spend the money on the GoPro this was a great investment. I suggest getting the basic Action Shot([...] for kids or if you just want to try out the idea first and for adults and people who want a camera without spending the money on a GoPro or want to work up to a GoPro get the HD Action Shot [...]. Overall this product does what it needs too and works very well. The only draw back is you may find you need to get the attachment accessory kit, however, I have done very well without it.

The Action Shot camera is decent kid's starter camcorder for capturing fun moments in motion with minimum of effort to get started.

The video quality captured in VGA mode is decent but in QVGA the video quality is very good and clear however pictures captured in Photo Mode are grainy and most of the time unclear. This camcorder does not work well in low light situations for video or pictures.

There aren't many buttons on the Action Shot camera keeping it simple to use with just two buttons. Once you get the hang of the buttons it's easy to use. The only thing that I feel this camcorder is lacking is a viewer because it's feels limiting not being able to see what the camera is recording or has recorded. Grant it the Action Shot camera would most of the times be mounted to a helmet, bike or some other devices following the action so the need to see what it being recorded isn't need then but it would be nice if while holding it a person could see what is being recorded or when wanting to take a quick picture.

Overall, for the price tag of less than 30 dollars, this Action Shot camera would make quite of few kids happy to have and experiment with as starter camcorder but I wouldn't pay the manufacturer's suggested retail price of over 50 dollars for it. Just keep in mind that this is not a camcorder on the same level as a GoPro but introductory camcorder targeted for kids.

I'm not a skate-boarder, I have another camera I use on my bicycle, but I do have dog with short legs, so I put this camera on a collar she wears and set off to try it out. It does take fairly good video, and I learned how much energy it takes for such short legs to walk through the neighborhood. However, the video was spoiled by a consistent static. I could have used a video editor to remove the static, but the video itself was not interesting enough (to anyone but me) to justify the work involved in removing the static.

I wouldn't expect to get video of this quality to be displayed on the internet, this is a toy after all, but I can see that it could be of benefit in attempting to improve sports performance.

Wasn't happy with the picture quality, but considering the price it was worth a try. bought the go-pro afterward and it is much better - of course - look at the price.

If you are not sure if a dash cam is something you want to invest in, this is a good starter. If you aren't looking to make a cinematic spectacular and just want something to keep a record of any special 'events' while you are driving, this camera is all you need. The battery is only good for about an hour and you definitely want to use the higher quality record speed (red). It can be set for still shots, but I don't really see a need for that, given the quality. I have used this for several trips now and I am completely pleased with the recording. I may look into a GoPro Hero later, but for now this seems to do the trick. It will record on up to a 32gb sd card, as that is what I am using now (I also used a 4gb, but that burns up the entire card in one hour). I highly recommend this camera and I also recommend getting the attachment kit to be able to record in other ways (skateboards, motorcycles, bicycles, helmet, etc).

Pleasantly surprised. Great for kids, I'm not sure I'd be thrilled as an adult since the video is mediocre quality. For the very casual user, it works well. I guess if you want something to record and it doesn't need to be high quality, this is perfect.

The picture feature where it takes photos every two seconds during the action - not so much. They've all been super blurry pictures. Video or taking a planned, single shot pic while still - good!

Don't waste your money. This camera sucks. Only records a couple of minutes then it shuts off. And with no remote, it's a pain in the neck to keep turning it on again.

I got this for X mas. this camera makes me wish I didn't celebrate x mas so I would have been spared this gift.

Lets start with the bad points because there are no good points.

You turn on the camera (standby) and it goes off in 2 mins unless you can start recording before that happens.

It comes with a head band to attach to a helmet which doesn't work on any bicycle helmet in the free world unless you want it to point skyward.

It only records one video 1.5 mins then you are done until you go home and load it on your computer and delete the video to make room for a new one.

This is an overpriced TOY that you will become frustrated with and never use again. Good work on the research and development of this product action pro whatever. You wont be missed when you are out of business. I don't wish that on any company but I was jiped. This type of toy should have been 7 dollars not 57.

Dont get one!!!

I'm intrigued to see that Amazon is asking me to review this as a toy - that explains a few things! It's cheap, low, quality, and mostly fun. But I have to say it's incredibly confusing to use--the record/stop button feels identical to the power/mode button, so I get them confused constantly and have to remove it from my head to look at the small text printed on the buttons. (Both buttons have a similar texture, so they feel identical when you're wearing it.) It takes a couple of hours to charge and then the battery lasts for a couple of hours (and can't be switched out--the USB cable is the only way to charge it), so you have to keep it charged and then plan to put it away after a while (which makes more sense if it's considered a toy). Quality is roughly comparable to the kids' cameras you get for $20.
