This book came in very very helpful. My son had to make one of these for a project in school that was due the first of of school. You know I could not find a single book that resembled what I was looking for!! 3 counties and still no luck. Thank god I found this one, is very insightful, informative, and interesting. If you're wondering how to make these things, this book does make it easier.

Lots of detailed diagrams on how to make these cute whirlygigs.

But be careful where you put yours... they will disappear from your front yard if you're not careful!!

It doesn't have every design, but there are enough varied plans to give you a good start. The introductory section on building the propellers and general design considerations should be enough for a moderately experienced wood worker to make whatever they want.

Mr. Lunde's books are the way to start basic whirligigs 101. I loved the way he talked you through each phase and type of project. The only slight drawback to his projects are the availability in todays world of some of his specified materials, many are no longer available at local hardware or home centers so all you have to do is supplement with what is carried in todays stores. Other than that both his books are worth the cost for the knowledge shared.

You can learn how to build all of the same items shown in the book, on line. I wouldn't buy this book again.

There is almost more wire bending then wood working. Should be easy for most hobbyists. A wire bending jig would be a big help.

I'm a part time woodworker and always wanted to make some Whirligigs. This book is packed with great plans and ideas.

I have been wanting to make a whirligig for a while. A guy at work brought me a carving magazine with a simple whirligig in it.[...]

I bought this book from Amazon hoping to get into more complex, more interesting projects. The projects didn't interest me. My impressions are that they are too much "two dimensional." The figures are just flat cutout that have no depth. I don't feel like I have the skills to go beyond the design but haven't wanted to make any presented in this book.

It's probably me. I shouldn't have started with the carved one first.

for the amount of pieces to be used in some of these items, the instructions were fairly easy to understand
