I bought a pair to connect my Panasonic IP Network camera to my router and to the Internet. They have been working very well and are problem-free for the past 6 months. It will even work with my older Linksys 14Mbps Powerline adapter. This adapter is also slimmer and smaller than the Netgear 85Mbps model, which means it won't block the other power plug, unlike the Netgear. It is also less expensive.

I purchased the Actiontec two megaplug kit to extend my Fios home network because wifi was not fast enough (6 to 24MBPS). I purchased this megaplug to add another computer to the network. These products were suggested by my providers tech support when the WiFi was transmitting too slow. This product was easy to set up and provides a consistent stable connection for the other computers to connect to the Internet.

After totally unsatisfactory wireless links, including fiddling with the Linksys Range Extender I gave up on wireless, using this for connecting two buildings on the property. Plugged in and it ran. Works fine with the Acitontec 85 mbps 4-port hub.
As other reviewers have said, you have a chance it won't work if the two places you want to connect are on the opposite phases of your power feed. If that happens, it's never gonna work so send it back.

Simple and reliable.,

I bought two of these beauties to connect a PC on the other side of an enormous room to my LAN. It worked out of the box, first time, no configuration necessary. I was impressed.
Being an obsessive gamer, I decided to try this with my PS2. Again, I plugged it in, loaded the network settings via DHCP from my router, and was online in less than a minute. It literally took longer to unpack the box than to build a new network segment with these devices. Get a few and have the reliability and speed of a wired LAN without running wires or drilling holes. Plug in and go.

Works great, but be careful where you plug it in.,

I recently ordered a pair of Actiontec HLE08500-01 and they worked without a problem at my house. I brought them to a friends house who was considering buying them and ran into the first and only problem encountered with this product. The outlets at my house where I was using the Actiontec adapters didn't have a lot of other devices plugged into the powerstrip that shared the outlet I was using.
At my friends house however we first tried it from the computer room/den out to the living room where all his stereo / video / TV equipment was plugged into a powerstrip and we used the other open outlet on a two outlet plug on the wall and got either spotty connection or no signal at all. So we tried another outlet in the living room near the TV and equipment with the same poor results. We tried one last outlet that only had a lamp plugged into it and ran a long cable along the baseboards to a network hub and it has worked fine ever since. He has since purchased 4 of his own and had the same issue in his bedroom when he tried using the outlet that the TV/DVD/Media player were all plugged into, then he tried a different outlet farther away and again it worked without any issues. We tested connection by using a netbook / laptop to check the wired connection at different outlets in these rooms. I don't have as much equipment as he does, and as I stated these worked fine for me in an outlet shared with a powerstrip that is used by my computer, monitor, printer and network router.

Had a homeplug compatible device (Dish Network HD Receiver/DVR) that I needed to connect to my router in another room. No easy way to run a cable. Bought the Actiontec adapter because of the price. Plugged it in and the Receiver/DVR came right up on the network. Appears to be a stable connection.

The title says it all. The first one crashed about one month after the warranty expired. I am hoping this one will greatly surpass that record.

See my review on the Actiontec MegaPlug 85 Mbps 4-port Hub for details. Bottom line: the pair works flawlessly and were very easy to install.

I bought this plug as an easy solution to the problem of how to connect my DishNetwork receiver to the internet. This was literaly as easy as plug and play. I plugged one of the plugs into my wireless router and into an electric outlet and then plugged another plug into the outlet near the receiver and this works great from providing internet service for two of my Dish receivers. I got the 85 Mbps plug based on other reviews stating that the faster plugs will not work with a Dish Network receiver.

Very easy to use...plugged it in and my dish network receiver picked it up right away. The only thing I have had a problem with was when I was downloading something from Dish online, my receiver locked up and reset. When it came back on, the program was on my DVR, but I didn't like the fact that it all reset. It may just have been a problem with my DVR. I haven't trie to download anything else, so maybe it was a one time thing. I really don't think it is an issue with the adapter though.
