ScreenBeam Pro is for laptops and Ultrabooks with WiDi 3.5 and higher, or Wi-Fi certified Miracast tablets and smartphones like Google Nexus 4, HTC One, Samsung Galaxy S3, Samsung Galaxy S4, Sony Xperia Z. Owners of laptops/ Ultrabooks without WiDi 3.5 and higher should purchase the ScreenBeam Kit.

I have tried three different device to TV wireless protocols - DLNA, WiDi and Chromecast so this type of connection isn't new to me.

I will continue to try to solve the problem and will update this review if I am finally successful in making it work.

Verified Purchase
Please note that I originally purchased a Netgear Push2TV device and returned it due to video and audio freeze-ups, connection problems, and severe lag. I decided to try the Actiontec ScreenBeam Pro in its place, and it was MUCH better!

Please note that I am writing this review of the Actiontec after only two days of use of this product. I tested this device for screen mirroring on three devices. In each case, I tested its ability to mirror streaming video from the web, streaming MP4 video that was stored locally on the device, mirroring photos that were local on the device, and, on the Nexus 7 and the Note 2, mirroring the device's desktop using moving live wallpapers.

Nexus 7 (2013 running 4.4 Kit Kat)

All of the tests passed quite well. The connection was made easily without incident. I did observe some freezes (glitches, not total freezes) on the live wallpaper after mirroring it for an hour or so. Disconnecting and re-connecting resolved the issue. Videos played without freezes or significant lag. The unit does get quite warm.

Samsung Galaxy Note 2 phone (T-Mobile, running 4.1.2 Jelly Bean)

All of the tests passed without incident. No freezes or significant lag was noted. For this device, you access the ScreenBeam Pro through Samsung AllShare Cast (Settings...More Settings...AllShare Cast).

Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro convertible laptop (running Windows 8.1)

All tests passed without incident. This uses the WiDi (Intel Wireless Display) function.

I highly recommend this product. Since I have been mirroring my ipad 3 with an Apple TV, I wanted a device that would work just as well at screen mirroring for Android so that I could phase out my last Apple products in favor of Android. Based on my first two days of use with the Actiontec ScreenBeam Pro, I believe that I have found what I needed.

I purchased this device to pair with my brand new, ultra high performance [Intel core i7, dual Samsung 840 SSDs in RAID 0, NVidia GeForce gtx 670 graphics with 2GB dedicated video mem, 8GB high perf RAM [2x4 sticks for dual channel], Intel AC wireless at 866Mbs, etc.] so I could broadcast HD movies from my laptop to my TV without having to plus in HDMI cables and using a wireless keyboard. While setup was pretty easy once all the current software, drivers, and firmware were added; video and games both display lagged and jittery video and audio which appears to be dropped frames and latent audio streaming. I tried troubleshooting on my own, increasing the buffer in MP, perf tuning my WiFi settings, etc. to no prevail. I then tried working with Actiontec technical service who was no help and blamed it on wireless interference. None of my other wireless streaming devices exhibit any lag or dropped data and I have also used wireless sniffing tools to 'rate' and detect any interference coming out at 100% clear connectivity. All the while the video and audio play perfectly smooth on my laptop even when duplicating screens. I have attempted to have the device exchanged [because I purchased direct from Actiontec and they only have a 14 day return policy...wish I would have waited and purchased through amazon] but they want me to pay to have it shipped to Hong Kong and will only return it if they deem it defective. Also, there is no power switch and if your setup supports HDMI power control like mine does so I don't have to turn on 3-4 devices each time I watch TV, this device keeps your TV on ALL THE TIME, or until you unplug it. Poor manufacturer service, poor product performance, skip it.

Vine Customer Review of Free Product ( What's this? )
My laptop has Intel's WiDi feature on it, and I have enjoyed using it to display my laptop on my living room television using my Netgear NeoTV Max Streaming Player NTV300SL. Having seen such good results with this device, I was interested in having a WiDi receiver on my bedroom TV as well. The main thing I use it for is to display shows from HBO Go on my TV, rather than having to watch them on the computer. Although I have Roku devices that support HBO Go, Comcast still does not allow its HBO subscribers to view HBO Go through the Roku systems.

I decided the Actiontec SBWD100A01 ScreenBeam Pro Wireless Display Receiver for WiDi Laptops Miracast Devices would be a good choice for the bedroom TV. Since I already have Roku and a TiVo there, I didn't need a device that performed any of the multimedia options that the NeoTV does - I just wanted it to have WiDi.

The ScreenBeam device was easy to connect to the television - so simple it seemed like there ought to be more to it. The biggest hurdle was that my laptop had a lower version of Intel's WiDi than the ScreenBeam supported. Luckily, I had confirmed before ordering the device that Intel did offer a free upgrade for WiDi on my PC.

I downloaded the free upgrade to WiDi 4.5 from the Intel website, along with the necessary graphics and wireless drivers that Intel said I must install with the WiDi update after it scanned my PC. Everything installed without error.

I powered up the ScreenBeam, but my upgraded WiDi could not even see that the ScreenBeam receiver existed, much less connect to it. I checked both the Actiontec and Intel websites for help, but found nothing helpful for my situation.
