Dorsal night splint,
This review is from: Active Ankle Dorsal Night Splint _ Size Large (Health and Beauty)
I was struggling with severe planters fasciitis in my left foot for over 9 months, getting out of bed in the morning and not being able to walk, going to work in the day with massive pain in the bottom of my foot. I was spending $100's of dollars on shoes and inserts thinking this will have to fix the problem, but that was not the case. I heard about the night splint, I was willing to try anything, because my doctor was not helping the problem either. I purchased the night splint about 4 weeks ago, and have had great success with this product, along with a pair of orthopedic shoes, my pain is 80% gone.

In theory this should work to keep your ankle dorsi-flexed at night. But what happens with this splint and every other tension-type splint I have tried is that when you tighten the fasteners sufficiently to hold your foot, they produce hot spots, inhibit circulation and/or compress nerves. Although not ideal, I would recommend a rigid traditional posterior splint or a walking splint. Alternatively if you have great insurance or a deep pocket, a big bulky device made by Dynasplint does the trick, though be prepared to lose a few nights of good sleep as you learn to adapt to it.

It fits well, but I have really bad achilles tendonitis, so I'm not sure how great its working yet. Its still early in the process.

Worked well but was uncomfortable during the night. If you need the splint, it was east to apply and did its job. However my condition improved to where I don't need it anymore.

This splint is comfortable enough that I usually wear it every night, although occasionally I need a break. I've had it for over 6 months now. The pad on the bottom has worn down a bit, and I had to reglue it to keep it from coming off. The velcro straps don't hold as well as it did at first, but I think that's normal and they just need cleaning.
This is the 3rd splint I've tried and the only one that has been effective. The first one was too bulky to sleep in, and the second too flimsy to do much good. This splint hasn't cured my plantar fasciitis, but I think it is helping keep it in check. |
