The BEST book of spelling activities I have seen.,
By Laura Renneberg (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Activities for Any Spelling Unit (Paperback)
This book presents a wide range of generic high quality spelling activities that elementary teachers can use with any spelling unit. There is no preparation required, the students enjoy the activities, and the spelling skills are effectively reinforced. I wish I had this book when I started teaching. It would have saved me many hours of preparation and my students would have enjoyed the lessons more and learned more.

This book is very helpful to suppliment any spelling unit. There is very little preparation needed for a lot of fun and great help with spelling. Additionally, the sheets go home and the students work on their own time, not yours. Activities include things like cutting out old magazine and newspaper letters to make their spelling words. I misplaced my copy of this book and feel lost without it now.

Let's face it. Spelling, while a necessary skill, is often a boring activity to practice. How many students do you know that enjoy writing down the same old words 10 times in a row? This book is a little dated, but the great part about it is that it has activities that fit within any spelling unit. The activities require very little prep work, but they are also engaging and enjoyable for students. Activities include students creating and sharing their own word search puzzles, creating spelling word "sailboats" and "smiley faces," cutting out old magazine and newspaper letters to spell words, and more. Each activity can be used with your own spelling lists. I used this book regularly when I was student teaching in a first grade class, and I'm sure I'll be using it a lot more in the future!

This spelling book has a lot of ideas that can be used with a variety of sets of words. A lot of the work is hands-on for the kids and makes a great addition to an ESL classroom. I can see that I will use this book a lot over time. Nice find!

I am a collector of ideas for spelling activities. This book is a wonderful resource with a large variety of ways to help the children interact with their spelling words. The activiities vary from week to week so they don't get stale. I like that the ideas can be used with any spelling list.

This item is a wonderful addition to my current spelling curriculum. It can be used for any grade. It offers activities for upper and lower aged students. Since I have both as a sped. teacher this workbook is the top of my list after the required classroom curriculum.
