3.0 out of 5 stars good but repetitive
I like the lessons. However, I feel that the introductions are too repetitive. This book has the same introduction to every lesson. They should be more geared towards the lessons.

I am a COTA/l with 15 years experience, and I have found this book to be very useful, in working with both the chronic and transitional level psychiatric residesnts, both in a state hospital, and in a transitional half way house on the grouds. It covers all higher levels of activities of daily living such as: money management, nutrition at all levels, laundry and leisure skills. It clearly explains how to run progressive groups that can be modified to any psychiatric setting. I really like the book, because it contains complete group protocols (so you dont have to do them yourself) and has suggestions for activities, discussions and worksheets....Karen has done all the work for you! I highly recommend this book, not only for new grads, but for all the seasoned professionals too...The book is very well written and carefully planned out. It would be a definate asset to anyone working with psychiatric residents!

I NEVER REVIEWED THIS MANUAL AND I REALLY WOULD LIKE THIS MANUAL. I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS MANUAL OR FOR SOMEONE TO COME FORWARD AND SELL IT TO ME. HOWEVER I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR IT NOW FOR OVER A YEAR TO FIND OUT THAT IS OUT OF PRINT. IF THERE IS ANYONE OUT THERE THAT WOULD LIKE TO SHARE IT ME PLEASE DO SO. I WORK AS A SUBSTANCE ABUSE COUNSELOR FOR ADOLESENCE AND THEY REALLY NEED TO HAVE GROUPS ON HYGIENE.
