A great, must-have tool for any school counselor.,

Jackson's activities are fun, pertinent, and easy. Each "lesson plan" consists of topic area, concept, method, time & materials needed, activity, and discussion ideas. This book has been a life-saver, not just when I was a first year counselor, but daily as I've planned classroom and/or small group activities.

This book is a great way to interest students in the subject you are trying to teach. I am a high school Family & Consumer Sciences teacher and find this book very helpful when I am teaching communication, self esteem, and health issues. Jackson's lesson plans are easy to follow and easy to modify. Highly recommended for any teacher.

Tom Jackson's books are filled with great activities. I have worked for a mentoring program for 4 years and I would consider this book to be one of the most valuable resources I have used to teach our youth and families about positive communication, avoiding drugs, and peer pressure, as well as numerous other topics. Jackson begins by explaining why experiential learning is so effective, and continues by explaining how to use it. He follows this basic instruction with multiple activities, listed alphabetically and labeled by topic. Our program has used these activities repeatedly and successfully. As I anticipate changing jobs this year as I enter the school counseling field, I will probably make this book one of my first purchases for my new job.

I use this book teaching Health to grades 6-8. It contains a variety of activities that are great supplements to units for social isssues, decision making, alcohol, smoking, drugs & more. Most of the hands on activities involve every student in the class, so they really remember the message!. Discussion questions are listed after each lesson. I started using this book by borrowing it from another teacher, now I've got my own copy.

The activities in this book actually help me teach my students something, not just take up class time. I'm trying to add more hands-on, active learning activities to my lesson plans, but I want these activities to have meaning. These games have meaning and purpose and I like them because they go beyond repetition or memorization.

Excellent Activities for Students with Behavior Problems,

I teach a in high school special education behavior program. This book was recommended to me by a colleague who teaches a different behavior program. He has all of the books in the series and speaks very highly of the activities. I've been extremely happy with the outcome of the activities I've tried. My students have actually engaged in the discussions and enjoyed the activities themselves. I like that each activity has the kids moving, drawing, talking to each other, etc. I'm looking forward to running more activities this year.

This book is awesome for teachers!! I am a Home Ec. teacher for Middle School and I use at least one of these activities per day! It's great for all grades and can be simplified if needed.

As an elementary counselor, I have found this book to be one that I use over and over. It has specific guidelines and ideas to help kids learn practical ways to make decisions, solve problems and think about life issues. The materials and time needed are helpful guides. KIds love to do the activities and then learn from them. Jackson has several other books, and I have found them all to be helpful.
