Activity Center is an album with its own character and energy, carried by an irresistible adolescent feeling and it's probably no coincidence that Xavier was re-reading Salinger's The Catcher in the Rye during one recording session. The result is hits like the danceable Unpredictable and the vibrant All Around, the abrasive doo wop of Brazil, the swaying One Parachute and the melodic melancholy of Tune In. Activity Center is a very personal mix of dream pop and voltage rock, and sounds a lot like them going back to their roots. Like a return to the days of Puzzle but with ten years of experience to aid their imagination and musicianship. The innocence is still there, but with more assurance.
