I checked it out from my local library several years ago before I auditioned for "The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." After studying this book, my Cockney was never once criticized.
"AEoD" covers many dialects with their more specific areas (sub dialects, if you will):
and many more (at least 23 in total)!
Each dialect chapter has practice pages, a paragraph or so on music & rhthym, and some (if not all) give movie examples (i.e. Tevye's Yiddish in "Fiddler on the Roof", and Eliza Dolittle's Cockney in "My Fair Lady.")
Mind, it takes some concentration to "translate" the symbols they use. I recommend printing out the Symbol Guide pages so you don't have to flip back and forth through the book. But it doesn't take a trained professional (or anyone with any training) to comprehend them.
