nothing sophisticated. just connect, follow procedure outlined by the manufacturer of your vehicle, and point and shoot. make your adjustment and your done. its' a tool not used very often anymore with electronic ignition. so unless you work on vintage cars and trucks you won't be using it very often. so don't buy an expensive model. keep it simple.

Its great when things work properly. This is one of those things. I found that there is no interference from spark wires that are outside the clip, the wire must be in the clip to be registered, so that's nice. The strobe is bright enough to see the timing mark even in daylight.

Received the light faster than expected, thank you Amazon! Once I was able to remove the unit from it's plastic, steel wrapper, I couldn't believe how tough that plastic was, the light performed great! No setup problems, connected in a snap and gave a very bright and easy to use light.

I had an old Craftsman timing light for about 35 years or so. It finally went belly up. This new light is exactly what I needed. It is a good, no frills light and it is all that I needed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great, but don't drop it., July 5, 2011
This review is from: Actron CP7527 Inductive Timing Light (Misc.)
I own this unit, purchased from my local auto parts store. It works great, as a device this simple should, but the built quality could be better. I dropped mine onto concrete from a height of about two feet, and the back cover broke off. It looks like a P.O.S. now, with duct tape wrapped around it...still works for now.

No bells or whistles, but it does what it's supposed to. The one thing the instructions didnt say was that you have to HOLD down the power button to have the light work.

Id recommend this for basic timing, as timing lights are devices you use once or twice a year (if that) for the casual mechanic.

Got a couple of old GMC trucks, this worked fine. Seems built to last so I don't have to worry about buying another one someday.
