5.0 out of 5 stars SERIOUSLY OVER PRICED!
We got this e-x-a-c-t same clock for $28.00 less tax - at Costco about 3 months ago (as someone else mentioned in a prior review). It's a little JEWEL and accurate as heck after the 14 day calibration period it does for your climate. I notice it even auto-reset to daylight savings time this morning! It's calling the weather more accurate then the silly news channels on...

5.0 out of 5 stars SERIOUSLY OVER PRICED!, November 1, 2009

I cannot believe Amazon's price on this product. Head to Costco and save yourself a WAD!

FIVE STARS TO THE CLOCK, but Amazon's pricing a serious thumbs down!

3.0 out of 5 stars Questionable Accuracy, January 20, 2011
This review is from: Acu-Rite Deluxe Wireless Weather Station with Atomic Clock (New Model)
I liked the advertised features for this weather center and purchased it for my home. Installation was simple and unit was up and running very quickly.
I mounted the outdoor sensor under a covered patio (out of direct sunlight). I used a very accurate indoor digital thermometer to check the readings for the indoor unit and found them to be acceptable. The outdoor readings, however, were 5-10 degrees high during all hours of the day and night. After two weeks I contacted Customer Service about the discrepancy. They suggested that I remove the batteries from both units for at least 20 minutes and then reinstall them...doing the oudoor sensor first. This was done. No improvement in the outdoor temperature reading was noted. We are learning to live with having to subtract 5 or so degrees from the outdoor reading to get a reasonable estimate of the actual temp.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Weather Station - No Atomic Clock, October 25, 2010
This review is from: Acu-Rite Deluxe Wireless Weather Station with Atomic Clock (New Model)
I spent a few days trying to get the atomic clock to pick up the signal. Finally called the manufacturer. This has *no* atomic clock, so the description is misleading. It's an "intelli-time" clock that has a factory set time held on a backup battery inside the unit. It will automatically change for DST and should be an OK clock. Just not an atomic one.

Other than that, this is a fantastic wireless weather station for a great price if bought at Costco for under $30. Not only does it measure the normal things, it also displays outside humidity and actual barometer readings - things often not present on more expensive units. Syncing the outside sensor with the main station was very easy. The readings appear accurate. I've gone from sunny days and stormy weather in the week since I got it. It's still in the 14 day learning mode, so the barometer should self correct for the 1,000 foot altitude here. Apparently the outside sensor works in determining this.

I took one star off for the misleading description. Otherwise, this would have gotten 5 stars.

4.0 out of 5 stars Outside Temp Not Accurate, December 11, 2009
This review is from: Acu-Rite Deluxe Wireless Weather Station with Atomic Clock (New Model)
I like the unit and easy to set up. Bought it at Costco much cheaper than Amazon. It's priced right and easy to read. Unfortunately, the outside temperature displayed on the unit has been off by 6 to 10 degrees. I moved the outdoor sensor to different shaded locations, but still the same - the temparature is always higher than the actual outside temp. Called the company about the problem. They are sending me a new outside sensor at no charge. Haven't received it yet, but hope it will be more accurate in reporting the actual outside temparature. The other features seem to work fine - the clock is spot on, and the forecast seems to be correct too. If anyone else has this problem, I'd like to know.

2.0 out of 5 stars Don't trust the relative humidity values., December 12, 2010
This review is from: Acu-Rite Deluxe Wireless Weather Station with Atomic Clock (New Model)
Purchased the 1097 unit from Costco. Placed them beside each other for an extended time (10 days) and recorded the temperature and RH. The temperatures were always accurate. However, the difference in RH ranged from between 3% and 6% (was 10% different initially). After calling Chaney Customer Care (877 221 1252), and talking to their tech rep (Jenny), I find out the RH accuracy is +/- 5%. She did not know what the relative accuracy was, nor how repeatable the readings should be, i.e., if true RH is 48%, and reads 43%, another day it might read 53%, and still be within spec. When asked how would they know if it were defective, she was unable to provide an answer.

Do not buy if RH is desired - the units cannot be trusted! It is an expensive thermometer.

1.0 out of 5 stars Not worth it, March 15, 2010
This review is from: Acu-Rite Deluxe Wireless Weather Station with Atomic Clock (New Model)
This weather station cannot keep the atomic signal. My old Oregon Scientific one has no problem picking up the signal in less than 15 minutes, but this one can sit for hours and not even pick it up. The weather forecast is never accurate saying it will rain even though there are no clouds in the sky. Overall it seems cheaply made and does not look as nice in person. I would avoid this one, unless you don't mind spending too much for something that doesn't really work.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Product, December 8, 2009
This review is from: Acu-Rite Deluxe Wireless Weather Station with Atomic Clock (New Model)
I have owned a lot of these type gadgets and this is one of the best. The external sensor is well sealed and compact. I am really impressed with the barometric weather predictor. It is amazingly accurate.

2.0 out of 5 stars Outdoor sensor died after 4 days, November 24, 2009
This review is from: Acu-Rite Deluxe Wireless Weather Station with Atomic Clock (New Model)
I bought this at Costco, which turns out to be good since they have a great return policy. I would rate this at 5 stars, but the outdoor sensor (never in the weather) died after 4 days. I'll trade it back at Costco for a new one, and hope it is just infant mortality on the unit. I did test the base and outdoor sensor in the same location, and they were EXACTLY the same to the degree. I don't recall about humidity. Of course, the clock worked flawlessly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Big clean screen and simple setup, September 29, 2009
This review is from: Acu-Rite Deluxe Wireless Weather Station with Atomic Clock (New Model)
Just picked this up at [...] for [...] and the unit was a breeze to setup. The unit comes with indoor/outdoor temperature and humidity sensors (indoor build into base). Put the included AA batteries in the outdoor sensor box, then the base unit and within a few minutes it automatically connects base to remote sensor. The time automatically sets as well (Atomic clock) too.

Weather forecasting - Nice display with pressure graphs and weather icons. Instruction says the unit needs around 14 days of running before the weather forecast becomes most accurate.

Nice looking unit with big letters and handsome clean case. Backlight is yellow when you press the backlight button.

Seems like a winner for those looking for simple temperature/humidity and weather forecasting without rain/wind data.

BTW - does anyone know if the more advanced weather stations use the rain/wind data for forecasting weather? Or is it just a combination of rising/falling pressure and outdoor temperatures that go into the forecasting algorithms?
