Bought this self setting clock and was so excited because we loose power often and thought this was the answer to my aggravation with outages. After two weeks I was so pleased, I went out and bought another. Perfect!
Except... The lights on both clocks are failing. The 0 looks like an upside down U and the 2 looks like a ?
Wish just for once someone would take a great concept and make a good product.
Disappointed with Acu Rite.

This clock is not an Atomic clock, no where does it say it is. The clock is preset at the factory to the correct time/date for Eastern time at the factory and the batteries keep the time until you plug it in. The directions tell you how to adjust the time/date for your liking, use the button clearly marked TIME SET on the top. On the bottom of the unit are two switches, one will change the time zone, the other turns the daylight savings time change feature on or off. The clock uses a built in calendar to determine when to make daylight savings time changes, if you change the date and/or time using the TIME SET button the clock will remember the new settings, it will not adjust either as it not an Atomic clock.

I like this clock, has a high low dimmer switch on front, easy to read numbers, a large snooze button. Not sure why the description says it takes two AA batteries not included, it comes with batteries preinstalled, this what allows it to keep the time and date that are preset at the factory. This clock is really simple to use, not sure how some managed to turn it into rocket science.

First, I did not purchase this clock from Amazon. I got it from Walmart but it is the exact same clock as the one offered on this site. It was an awesome clock for the first month. The light was a tad too bright but the clock worked great. The time was set automatically when the clock was plugged in. The alarm was simple to set and the "on/off" switch was large enough find easily in the dark. I was very happy with this clock.

Then after about a month of daily use, I noticed that the alarm light remained "on" even after I turned the alarm off. I thought it was a glitch in the light sensor until the alarm, which was turned off, started buzzing at 5 AM on a Saturday morning. At that point, I would have returned the clock if I'd still had the box but I didn't. To actually get the alarm to stay turned off, I had to put a rubber band around the clock to hold the button "down" and "off."

Yesterday morning, the alarm went off an hour earlier than it was supposed to. I double checked and it was set correctly. That's when I realized that my "automatic" clock had re-set itself to the "eastern" time zone. We live in the "central" time zone. (and no, the button on the bottom of the clock had "not" been switched to the "eastern" setting. I checked.) This is without a doubt the worst alarm clock I've ever owned. I threw it in the trash. If I could give it "0" stars, I would. It was a complete waste of money.

I have about 12 of these and have owned most of them for 3-4 years. They are all still working very well and I have not had any issues. Love it! Its not fancy, but the buttons are large and you don't need to read an instruction manual to set the alarm. Alarm on Alarm off. What a novel ideal. Love it.

What a great clock, it automatically sets the time for your zone and corrects itself for daylight saving time. Also it has yellowish digits, great for seeing at night with poor vision. It has a bright and dim switch setting too. I actually bought two, one over a year ago and one just recent. Both are working fine with no defects. Great value for the price. I do recommend this item to my family and friends.

I had one of these clocks before and did not know what I had. I changed the time one year at daylight savings time and fouled it up. I had to select a different time zone to make it work. Then recently I accidentally changed the time instead of the alarm and really messed it up. I could not figure out how to correct my mistake. So--I bought a new one and recycled the old. My only complaint is that nothing in the manual explained how to fix the problem I created. At least now I know that I don't have to ever change the time.

I bought two of these clocks at the same time. Both worked like stated, just one of the two had a mind of it's own. It would have the alarm going off at set time, even though alarm was. You would have to turn the alarm on, then back off to shut it off. Sent that one back for exchange. The other one I purchased at the same time has worked liked a charm. It's accurate keeping time and it works like its suppose to. Would have been five stars had the one not decided to wake me up at 5:30 AM on my days off.

I had this alarm for 4 years, and I tell you this is the only alarm that never fails to wake me up. It's so loud that when I lived on campus, my next-next-door floor mates would knock on my door to complain. My only gripe is the time being off- even when I correct it, the time somehow drifts slowly over time until it's about 4-5 minutes off. After four years of use it finally gave out during a power outage.
