5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent training resource for new graduates, November 15, 2000
This review is from: High Acuity Nursing (Paperback)
Filled with self paced modules applicable to the critical care, emergency room, and medical-surical setting, High Acuity Nursing is an excellent clinical resource to supplement orientation & training programs of new graduate nurses. Organized by body system, it integrates A&P, clinical nursing applications, and critical thinking all in one. I used it with my new graduates when orienting them to the IMCU, ED, and med-surg units. They found the information helpful in tying in the clinical content they were learning during orientation and the practical application of it. They rated the self learning modules highly in the evaluations. Internal transfers into the ICU have also found it to be helpful when orienting to that new setting.

4.0 out of 5 stars High Acuity Nursing, September 21, 2005
This review is from: High Acuity Nursing (4th Edition) (Paperback)
This book has been very helpful to our new nurses who seem overwhelmed when they first get out of school. Self-paced modules help them incoorporate their knowledge with the types of patients they take care of. I have used this book for seasoned nurses too. They like the validation they get from being able to pre- and post-test.
A great teaching and learning tool for all nurses looking to review or to upgrade skills.

This book is the single most helpful book I have had in my Level-II nursing courses. We're using Lehne and Monahan as main text books, but this high acuity nursing is really stellar and explains things so much more clearly and concisely. Love it!

3.0 out of 5 stars Wrong access code's printed inside brand new text books. Bad lot of books from Pearson., January 27, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
Wrong access code printed inside brand new text book! I couldn't find any way to notify Amazon.com directly about this text book's printing problem/error so I'm posting it here. I am a nursing student who recently purchased this book, along with several others in my cohort. It appears that Amazon purchased an entire "lot" of these books that all have the same printing error from the publisher (Pearson). The activation code on the front page of the book, under the silver scratch off- is incorrect. When you go to register the book on Pearson's, mynursingkit.com, it actually register's a 7th edition Ecology text. (go figure??) This happened to ALL OF US that purchased through Amazon and not the campus bookstore! When you contact Pearson's customer service, they initially try to give you the run around and tell you to go back to Amazon to get a "new" code. After persisting to speak with a supervisor and making them see this is their problem I finally was able to gain level II customer service, and they (Pearson) finally issued me a access new code for my brand new text book. It is obviously a Pearson publishing error, however Amazon should be aware of this since they are selling a defective product. Hopefully they will go to Pearson and get new access codes to issue with all the new book purchases so we don't have to go through all the trouble of "customer service" techs that can't figure out how to solve the problem.

Thanks,
a few frustrated nursing student's from California

A great textbook that will be an asset for NCLEX prep. However, whoever proofread this text should be fired due to the presence of more than a few typos.

First of all, this is really a great book that breaks critical care nursing down into very basic topics. I love the modules and pre/post-tests. However, there are a lot of errors in this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, October 4, 2011
This book gives an excellent explanation for the various aspects of high acuity nursing. As a student in my final semester of nursing school, I have found this book to be a helpful resource with clear explanations throughout. I regret having not purchased this book sooner.
