2.0 out of 5 stars Nice tone, but not user-friendly, September 1, 2010
This review is from: Acupressure for Everybody: Gentle, Effective Relief for More Than 100 Common Ailments (Paperback)
I got this book out of the library hoping for a basic, user-friendly, not overly hocus-pocus introduction to acupressure. The book almost delivers. Bauer has an easy-going writing style and doesn't pooh-pooh western medicine. Her write-ups often refer to other forms of treatment as well (herbal, diet changes, etc.). I like the holistic approach.

The problem is that the book needed a very careful once-over by a good editor to make sure the suggested acupressure treatments and associated drawings matched up, and sadly, they often don't. It's really frustrating to read, for instance, that one should try "Conception Vessel 21" to ease a sore throat & then not be able to locate that point on any of the charts. It's just missing. This happens distressingly often. It also would have been helpful to have an index of points with detailed descriptions of how to find them. The charts aren't always very clear. I'm sure there's something better out there on this subject.
