Good practical book,
By A Customer
This review is from: Acupressure Way of Health: Jin Shin Do (Paperback)
I found this simply written book very usefull. The book begins with conception and introduction of theoretical basis of chinese medicine and accupressure, it continues with tables of locations and way of working on the main acu-points (including self-treatment). At the and of the book author gives us a practical approach to the emotions from the acu-points.

I use this book regularly, along with Ms. Teeguarden's others, Complete Guide to Acupressure, and The Joy of Feeling.
This book is an excellent starter; it has clear descriptions of excatly *where* the points are, unlink Michael Reed Gach's books (one of Ms. Teeguarden's former students). The book also starts you off with Strange Flow work, the most powerful acupressure tool. Since acupressure and traditional chinese medicine isn't about fixing symptoms (Gach's approach), but rather treating the entire system, this is the best ground work I've found.

Esoteric and Theory-based,

This book is quite esoteric and very theory-based. I was looking more for a book that would assist me in learning to use accupressure rather than understand it's development and philosophy. For anyone interested in a book that is more aimed at treatment, try Acupressure Potent Points: A Guide to Self-Care for Common Ailments by Michael Gach, an excellent resource.

a class text,
By "yare-ach" (Atlanta, Georgia United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Acupressure Way of Health: Jin Shin Do (Paperback)
This is actually a class text designed to be used in conjunction with a certified Jin Shin Do practitioner and teacher. With that in mind, yes, it will seem ethereal, or worse, when not taken in conjunction with the class(es). As opposed to working primarily from the ZangFu, Jin Shin Do utilizes the 8 curious Mai; and is another way to help body-workers in dealings of body armoring.

I am a Reiki Master, Chakra Therapist and Martial Artist. I have learned about energy and my main interst has always been energy healing. This has led me to Jin Shin Do. This is an advance healing method. This book by Iona is very good. It presents the subject matter very well. I have been trying to heal a frozen shoulder that is continunally aggravated by stress and martial arts practice. Well, I used the Jin Shin Do accupressure points on my shoulder and noticed a miracle of improvement immediately. I have always previously experienced a healer use the technique to heal my pelvic pain that I had for 3 months. It was healed in one treatment. Jin Shin Do is an advanced healing technique and this book is a must have to help understand it. I also recommend hands on treatment due to the inherent dangers of misusing the technique. Thank you Iona. This is a wonderful gift. CG

The book is great. It is just what I was looking for - acupressure points for healing. However the book and binding are very old and the binding fell apart and all pages are loose now.
