Chapters are brief and suitable for quick reading by the surgeon facing an emergency....Throughout, there is major emphasis on figures and easy-to-follow diagnostic and management algorithms, which makes it easy for readers to grasp the essential message....I am certain that Acute Care Surgery: A Guide for the General Surgeon is destined to have a large readership."--JAMA

"This book can be recommended for its well written chapters introducing generalists to principles of critical care. 3 Stars." Doody's Review Service

Acute Care Surgery: A Guide for the General Surgeon delivers a definitive overview of how to evaluate, stabilize, and perform surgeries for multiple emergent scenarios. Written by prominent surgeon educators, it takes you step-by-step from triage through the operation and concisely explains how to handle trauma, critical care, and emergency surgery situations. 5.0 out of 5 stars Great for a first edition., November 2, 2008

This review is from: Acute Care Surgery: A Guide for General Surgeons (Hardcover)
I'm not a surgeon, not even close, but this is a great text. Nice balance of concise and comprehensive. Great topics, tons of practical information. Looking forward to watching this text develop over the next few editions. It will surely be a standard for this relatively new surgical specialty.

3.0 out of 5 stars A quick and dirty review for surgical management from ED to OR, May 31, 2010

This review is from: Acute Care Surgery: A Guide for General Surgeons (Hardcover)
This book is concise, easy to read, and still contains enough evidence based rationale for treatment approaches to be academic. Good illustrations and review of critical care concepts and management also.
