5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent wound care primer, April 27, 2000
By A Customer
I have read this book and used it as a resource in preparing for wound care certification. I found it invaluable for it's detailed sections on anatomy and especially physiology. It was extremely helpful in gaining an understanding of what happens in a wound and how it heals. There are equally helpful chapters on disease processes and their impact on wound healing, and on choosing dressings and techniques for proper wound care.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE book for the CWCN exam, February 22, 2009
When I was preparing for my CWCN exam I kept looking for the book that would be most helpful. This was back when the 2nd edition of this book was out. I read a review where someone said this was the most helpful book for the exam. And they were so right! It remains so today. This is the book you need to prepare for the CWCN exam. You will highlight almost the whole book while you are studying. It really is the best. Using this book, along with periodicals and a review course (which can frequently be purchased as a CD from the WOCN conference) will get you through. I got a score equivalent to a 92% on my CWCN exam and also found the book to give me a comprehensive understanding of wound care. Not just what to do, but the reasons and AP (anatomy and physiology) behind it. It is a traditional "textbook" type of book so some of it is hard going. But don't skip over anything because every bit of it is useful.

4.0 out of 5 stars Acute & Chronic Wounds, July 16, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This book so thoroughly explained the principles and techniques for managing acute and chronic wounds. I like the self-assessment exercise after each chapter, because it helps me remember what I have just read and I can always go back review my weak parts. After I have had read this book, I have more confidence to take the exam for the certification of wound nurse.
