Product Description

Adam Copeland on Edge is what the author describes as "a mental picture." It's also a dream -- "one of many" -- that he decided to realize while at home convalescing from potential career-ending neck surgery. And it's a journey that explores not only his life but also his innermost thoughts.

In the small town of Orangeville, Ontario, Copeland was raised by a loving mother who, while working multiple jobs just to pay the rent, nurtured her son's passion for Spider-Man comics and KISS albums. When a family tragedy created a void in Copeland's life, that void was soon filled by the wrestling legend Hulk Hogan, who "made me feel like I could accomplish anything."

For Copeland, "anything" meant becoming a wrestler, an ambition shared by his friend Jason Reso, who would eventually form the indie tag team Suicide Blondes with Copeland, then join him in WWE as Edge's "brother," Christian. Winning a newspaper essay contest earned Copeland free wrestling training from independent veterans Sweet Daddy Siki and Ron Hutchinson. The author shares his vivid, often outrageous memories of wrestling throughout Canada and the midwestern United States and befriending future WWE Superstars like Terry Richards (Rhyno), Sean Morley (Val Venis), and Chris Jericho. Hard work and persistence brought Copeland to World Wrestling Entertainment. But his "inauspicious" Raw debut -- during which he accidentally knocked out his opponent -- supports his claim that "I had no idea" how to make the transformation to Edge.

Copeland retraces the steps he took to "Edgeucate" himself, from his goth days with the Brood's Christian and Gangrel to ushering in the "E&C Dynasty," which in turn revitalized WWE's Tag Team division (with the aid of the Hardy Boyz, the Dudley Boyz, and countless tables, ladders, and chairs).

With vivid detail and sincerity, Copeland offers his thoughts about not only fulfilling his goals but also building upon them. He shares his actual surprise over winning the Intercontinental title for the first time; the anxiety he felt while splitting up with Christian; his eventual determination "to grab the damn ball out of someone's hands and take off"; the distress of almost losing his long blond hair to Kurt Angle; his wonder over enjoying a brief Tag Team title reign with the icon who first inspired him; the simultaneous pain of a broken marriage and two ruptured discs in his neck; and the nervous energy of returning to Raw in March 2004 and setting his sights on the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

You think you know Edge? Then read on....

About the Author

The Canadian Superstar has excelled in both singles and tag-team action. Along with his brother Christian, he won the Tag Team Championhip seven times -- a record for a duo -- winning an eighth Championship in 2002 with Rey Mysterio as his partnet. Edge officially became a force in the singles division when he won the King of the Ring in 2001. He has also won the Intercontinental Championship on four occasions. This is his first book. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

5.0 out of 5 stars You want to know him???, November 2, 2004
I think this was a great book by my personal favorite WWE superstar, Edge. I stayed up until the weesma's reading this funny and entertaining autobiography of Edge's early years in the sports entertainment biz. He has such a great sense of humor about himself (pretty rare for a professional wrestler) and about his chosen profession. Yes, this book was written (relatively) early in his career but why not? Why wait until another injury (God forbid) puts him out again? I say - if the WWE feels that enough people will buy a wrestler's book, who are we to argue? I am not trying to convince you that this book ranks up there with Foley's books (the best) but Edge's book definetely deserves a look by any true wrestling fan. If you liked Chyna or the Rock's books (I did) then you will not be disappointed in this new book either. I wasn't!!

4.0 out of 5 stars REEKING OF AWESOMENESS!, December 27, 2004
By M. E Grant "MacGyver of the Books" (Clinton Twp., Michigan) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
For any WWe fanatic who loves the wrestler Edge (aka Adam Copeland) then this book is for you. If you're like me and are a WWe fan but think Edge is OK, well...the book is still for you.

Adam Copeland on Edge is a fast, fun, entertaining read (100% written by the man himself). At just under 300 pages the book reads like a short story. I was finished with it in less than a day and frankly, the smile never left my face. Edge comes off like a fun guy to be around. He was influenced by comics, wrestling (duh!), hockey, video games, pranks, and just having a fun time.

It's hilarious to read about his early friendship with Christian, misadventures wrestling in the far off regions of Canada, and early matches in the WWe. The read is so smooth it feels like you're just listening to Edge talk directly to you.

My one small gripe would be that he could have gone into more detail on some of the events and matches in his life. A little more insight into his fellow WWe wrestlers and his own thoughts as he developed his character and various matches. This is the one area that signals the "First Time Author", but all in all I highly recommend this book to all wrestling fans who might want a few hours away from a TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars Adam Copeland on "Edge", December 18, 2004
By Fez (APO, AE United States) - See all my reviews
This book is a very good read for anyone who has, or still does, enjoy wrestling and following great superstars over the years. Adam Copeland tells his story beginning as a boy all the way to his present status in WWE. Many of Adam's real life experiences are very humorous and easy to relate to, and he carried his undying work ethic to the Ring in hopes of one day capturing the World Heavyweight title. All told in great detail, Adam Copeland on Edge is an enjoyable read for any wrestling fan or would be wrestler who would like to see how a small town kid became a big hit in the WWE.

Awesome book, edge doesn't try to pass himself off as the greatest wrestler ever, just tells some rather humorous stories of how he got where he is today
