5.0 out of 5 stars Only Jesus Can Create The Perfect Race of Humans, December 7, 2009
By
This review is from: The Adam & Eve Project (Paperback)
During World War II, a secret group of evil, powerful men known as "The Committee" devises a plan to prevent the eventual destruction of mankind by creating a super race of humans. Around the world, intellectually and physically gifted children are kidnapped and hidden on a remote island in the Caribbean. They are forced to marry prearranged mates and bare children that have been genetically altered to become perfect specimens. Despite the passing of over three decades, these children, who grow into adults, never lose their yearning to be free. Meanwhile, the friendly Dr. Yngve Sigverd struggles to provide them with a happy community while an insanely dangerous man known as the Lieutenant exploits their genes and kills anyone who may discover his diabolical Adam & Eve Project.

The talented Donna Dawson has given a new twist on the classic H. G. Well's novel, "The Island of Dr. Moreau." When will men stop trying to create the perfect human race? Only Jesus can do that. This is one of many Christian themes explored in Dawson's "The Adam & Eve Project." A fast-paced action adventure novel, it taught me that we are to praise Jesus despite our circumstances, no matter how unusual or bizarre they may be; He can use our pain and suffering to glorify Him. The children who are trapped on the island must rely on their faith in Jesus in order to maintain happiness and the hope they will eventually be rescued.

Joseph was sold into slavery by his brothers. However, he never lost his faith. Eventually he was put in charge of all the grain supplies in Egypt during a horrible famine. When his brothers came begging for food, Joseph said to them, "You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives." Genesis 50:20 (NIV). Because of the Adam & Eve Project, many people from around the world become Christians. They learn how Jesus worked miracles in the lives of those trapped on the horrible island.

"The Adam & Eve Project" is non-stop action adventure with a strong amount of science fiction horror. The Lieutenant is an evil, diabolical assassin who unflinchingly murders anyone who endangers his insidious project. His insanity becomes so great that he begins following in the footsteps of Hitler. The "Committee" is also evil. Government leaders quake in their presence. Their influence is felt in every continent. They have the power to change world history. "The Adam & Eve Project" is classic evil versus good. The evil characters are pitted against strong, courageous men and women of faith.

Dawson performed extensive research in order to bring her bizarre island community to life. Some of its inhabitants live in caves and huts; they forage and hunt for food and clothe themselves with skins. Nearby are the ultramodern laboratories with their high tech computers and specimen jars that contain dark, hideous secrets. The characters, with their diverse languages and cultures, are very believable. I enjoyed how Dawson manipulated historical events in order to enhance the conspiratorial plot.

"The Adam & Eve Project" is highly recommended reading for all Christians who enjoy action adventure novels with strong elements of science fiction horror and romance. This superbly written novel has taught me to rely heavily on Jesus during times of sorrow. No matter how dire our trials, we should remember that He is using them to bring ourselves and those around us closer to Him. Imagine attending a school where tests are never given. Without tests, we would never learn anything. "The Adam & Eve Project" is very provocative. Also recommended is Donna Dawson's "Vengeance" - passengers on an ocean liner are dying because of a mysterious virus created by a man seeking vengeance against those responsible for the deaths of his loved ones during the Vietnam War. Donna Dawson's future novels of suspense include "Rescued" and "Vampire."

5.0 out of 5 stars Another winner, December 15, 2007
This review is from: The Adam & Eve Project (Paperback)
A gripping tale of scheming deviants, bent on creating a superior race. What does Hawk, an agile native American boy have to do with this scheme?Set in the 1940's with a still crazed Hitler planning further evil, this story held me from beginning to end. Again Donna Dawson manages to paint pictures with words as the reader traverses water, mountains and lush green forests, and witnesses the agony of children stolen from their parents. The end is surprising and satisfying. I can only say I hope there's a sequel to this book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great book~ different!, January 29, 2007
This review is from: The Adam & Eve Project (Paperback)
For the second time, I've had the privelege of reading one of Donna Dawson's books to review. Wow! I don't know if I've just been shopping for the wrong genre of literature or if she truly is a one-of-a-kind novelist, but I suspect it's the latter.

I cannot say enough about Donna's writing style. There is so much detail, in both books that I've read so far, that I just feel drawn right into the story. It is obvious that Donna puts alot of time and research into the writing of her novels. Each character has a distinct personality, unlike many books I've read where the characters all just blend together. And the plot is ever changing and moving~ always holding your interest.

This particular book, "The Adam & Eve Project", is about a committee of world leaders who scheme together to create a perfect human race. The story spans several decades, beginning with World War II (and Hitler's reign) and ending with modern times. The story revolves around the goal of this particular committee and the many children that have been kidnapped to help meet this goal (through genetics and human manipulation). This is not a book for wimps~ it will keep you guessing 'til the very last page!

"The Adam & Eve Project" contains drama, suspense, murder, government intrigue, and the ultimate means to freedom~ salvation through Christ Jesus.

If you are looking for a book that will hold your interest and give you something to think about long after you've turned the last page, then I highly recommend "The Adam & Eve Project". I wait with anticipation for her next novel~ "Vengeance"!
