5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Investment!
This was one of the best buys I have ever made. The book is much bigger than I thought it would be. It is extremely interesting. Everytime I look at it I get more out of it. Definitely not a book that you look at once and forget about. I love the detail of the art as well as the historical content.

My ten year old daughter loves it just as much as I do.

1.0 out of 5 stars Distressing
This timeline/chronology was recently sold at my daughter's school - which claims to be a non-religious organization. I find it distressing that fallacious ideas about the beginning of humanity and the roots of our current civilization are so eagerly embraced in modern society. One does not need to travel back in time to find proof of human existence prior to 4004 BCE...

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost Too Much Information, November 17, 2008
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Adam's Synchronological Chart or Map of History. (Hardcover)
When I got this product in the mail I was surprised how large the box was. Then I opened the box and boy this item is huge. I did not expect it to be anywhere near this large. When you fold out the chart it is probably 20 feet long. There is so much historical information here on the rise and fall of different cultures and nations it's hard to take it all in.

The only issue I have with it is that it is so large it is hard to use. The only thing I can think to do with this is to find a way to mount it on a wall (which will be complicated by the fact it is affixed to the cover boards. With that said, I love looking at the timelines and comparing biblical characters and who would have been their contemporaries.

Certainly worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing, huge, and very, very detailed, November 24, 2009

First off I have to say that this hard-cover chart is much larger than it looks from the picture; fortunately, the 20 or so individual fold sections(covering about 400 years each) can be flipped through like pages of a book so you don't have to unfold the whole thing every time you look at it; there is also a wall poster version you can buy, though you need to make sure you have a whopping 25 feet of wall for it.

The chart itself is remarkably detailed; it give a detailed visualization of much of the family tree of Genesis, with an individual section devoted to the genealogy of Christ. It also shows the development of many ancient civilization, showing the time spans of various empires, and even connects the line of Chinese emperors to Noah.

This time chart relies upon James Ussher's dating of creation at 4004 BC. In addition, it contains well over 100 illustrations accompanied by various text blocks fleshing out details of the various time periods.

It also includes a booklet that goes into excellent detail concerning various civilizations from ancient Egypt to America.

During a recent visit to a friends home I saw this Map of History on their dining room walls. It was fantastic and I couldn't wait to order one for our family. My husband seems to be enjoying studying it more than the rest of us.

We find it exciting to find people and events on the chart, and then see what else was happening in other places at the same time. It's been wonderful to see events and names of people we haven't encountered in our readings yet, and realize afresh how much more there is to learn!

The chart is very big, as has been previously mentioned. We haven't found just the right place for hanging on the wall and are realizing that we must cut it to get it to fit on our walls. But we are happy for all the information and artwork!

5.0 out of 5 stars Just Fantastic, June 2, 2008
This review is from: Adam's Synchronological Chart or Map of History. (Hardcover)
This really is a great chart. It follows Ussher's standard chronology and is a brilliant piece of work. It makes a great gift, but make sure you own a copy yourself... you won't want to part from it! Like the other reviews, it is bigger than you think, visually stunning and is one of the best items i've purchased.

Every church bible study group should have this book in their library. This is the missing piece of the puzzle. Buy one for you and one for your church.

What more can be said than that? This map of history is much more than a detailed timeline and I'm very fascinated by it and can learn something new from it every time I look at it. It's amazing to me to see different things that were happening at the same time in different parts of the world. Don't forget to purchase the teacher's guide (Adam's Chart of History Teacher's Guide) as well to help explain the information on the chart better.

It's also not filled with garbage from the evolution religion (It is a belief system on the origin of the world that can't be proven any more than the Bible. Science covers observable and repeatable phenomenon. [For example, gravity can easily be proven over and over again by anyone.] Until we have a way to travel backwards in time, no one will be able to observe the creation of the world, so all we can do is guess). How we got here is irrelevent to actual science - all that matters to the scientific method is that we're here. It's supposed to deal with facts, not theories, and certainly not teach theories as facts like they do in public schools. I love the fact that this chart of history doesn't go back before human history.

It was created 100 years ago, before vision of hystory was influenced by materialism and evilution. It amazes everyone. Some minor things on the map is not in accord with new archeologycal findings.
By the way, it is bigger then you might think.

We purchased this for our Son in Law for Christmas. He is working on a Doctorate of Divinity and called us a few days later saying, "Next to the Bible this is the greatest book I have ever owned.". His family said he had his nose in it for a whole day.
