The CD-RW drive we tested the software with originally ran with the "lite" version of EZ-SCSI, and after installing this Deluxe version we were faced with a host of useful options. SCSI Explorer was there to tell us all about our attached SCSI devices, from their capacity to information about the SCSI adapter we were using. Using the included SCSIBench utility, we were able to see how fast all our SCSI components worked together, which was great for seeing if some of the tweaks we tried made any difference in overall speed.
Of course, this software wouldn't be Deluxe without some new features, and there are more than we have space to discuss. The WebCheck-Up feature made it easy to keep our SCSI device drivers current by automatically looking for updates. The Drive Preparer handled partitioning chores on our SCSI hard drive with aplomb. Adaptec even threw in a copy of Easy-CD Creator Lite so CD-R and CD-RW users can start burning CDs right away. Combine all these features with EZ-SCSI's more familiar system backup and disk formatting tools, and you end up with a utility suite no SCSI user should be without. --T. Byrl Baker

COASTER MAKER,
By A Customer
This review is from: EZ-SCSI Deluxe Edition 5.0 (CD-ROM)
When I searched the Amazon site for Adaptec software, I was reacting to the abysmal performance of the CD writer that comes with the ver 7.01 Windows Media Player. I thought, why is the company displaying such a large ad to upgrade to the Deluxe product. I still have no clue. I own two other CD burning products, which unfortunately do not convert from Microsoft's WMA file format. Adaptec's software is horribly buggy. My error rate on over 30 CDs was about 35%. That's correct: one of three CD writes failed. The first couple of writes, I thought, might be the result of other software interfering. So, I closed ever single program under Windows 98SE except Explorer and Systray, and still obtained this awful success rate. I can only conclude that Adaptec thinks that we are a bunch of fools who think that paying them [price] for an ungrade will magically make their software perform where it was not capable before. As for support, read the review below and believe it.

This is definatley aimed for business production, not personal use. It made my cd writer go much faster, but only when I copied many CD's. It was useful though.
