This charger shipped to me on June 19th 2014, on September 12th 2014 it stopped charging. There is no visible damage to the A/C or D/C power cords, the connections to the charge block look to be in perfect shape - but it does not charge.

I purchased this product after reading the reviews carefully and yet I'm now out $30 for a useless chunk of plastic.

Do Not Buy.

When it comes to cheap electronics you get what you pay for and this is no exception. These chargers are not made to last and will overheat and/or blow a fuse within a few days. If you have the money to spend get the overpriced one from apple (and make sure you tape it up to avoid fraying).

If you don't have the money...

There are a couple things you can do to extend the lifetime of these chargers:
1) Keep it on a hard (preferably cool) surface as much as possible, avoid beds and couches as it will discolor or burn the fabric if it overheats.
2) Make a makeshift heat sink. All it takes is a soda can, some scissors and a rubber band. This won't stop it from overheating but it will help cool it down between uses.
3) Charge your laptop intermittently. I usually do it for no more than 15-20 min at a time and let it cool off for 5-10 min in between.

Again I recommend buying a magsafe charger or if your original charger's cable got frayed and you feel up for it, try a $10 repair cable. It requires you to open up the magsafe charger but if it's already past warranty you don't have much to lose.

I bought this as an emergency replacement charger for my 15" MacBook Pro. It worked fine right out of the box for a few hours, but then, within the next few hours of use, the charger would turn on and off while charging (the computer was not fully charged, either). After a few more hours, I heard a 'click' inside the charger, and it stopped working. When I checked the charger, it was blazing hot to the touch. This charger did not even make it a full workday.

The item sent by jacobsparts had an L shaped connector - not a T shaped connector and had to be returned

The factory charger gets quit warm, so I did not pay enough heed to warnings. Please know, this item burnt a hole into my mattress the first day I used it. I luckily did not leave it unsupervised - if I had plugged it in and ran out of the house for an errand, for example - it would have been substantially worse. Buyer beware!
