Many Dell Inspiron models have reoccurring power supply problems. The power cords easily become frayed underneath the plastic coating. This causes people to replace their power cords over and over.

But, many people make the mistake of jiggling and wiggling the power cord in the back of their laptops before giving up and buying a new one.

If you're guilty of this, you most likely have two problems now.

1) Your power cord has a shortage and does not always power on your laptop (as you already discovered).

2) Your power connector at the back of your laptop has most likely become very loose (this is what most people never discover).

No matter which power cord you buy, the second problem of your power connector being loose will still prevent you from powering your laptop. This is a Dell problem, not a power cord problem.

Can you move your power cord around easily when it is plugged into the back of your laptop? Does the LED light blink on and off when you wiggle the cord around? Does your laptop power on if you hold the cord in "just the right spot"? If this describes your situation, then you probably need more than just a new power cord. You also need to repair the power connector inside the laptop.

You can only do this by soldering the connector back in place. (Do you know how to solder?)

Or, you can call Dell for a new motherboard. (ouch!)

Even if you need to repair your connector you will still need a new power cord. So, this power cord will do. But whatever you do, avoid getting a new power cord from Dell. The original (and replacement) power cords from Dell are the whole reason you're shopping around for this product in the first place.

Most of us buy replacements because of the design flaw at the notebook connect point. This one has an 'L' shape connection eliminating the bending issue.

Also, it doesn't get HOT when recharging. My 1st replacement (the cheap one from Amazon) got so hot I worried about melting issues or fire, and never left it connected unattended. This one is warm only.

I received my order in the time I expected and it was what I ordered. I have always been happy with Amazons service. My problem with this item is with the product itself. This is the third Ac Adapter we have bought for our Dell laptop. The original adaptor just stopped working after about a year after we got the laptop for our teenage son. The second adaptor lasted about a year before it started acting up. We only had the third adaptor for three months. One big problem is that the way the cord comes out of the adaptor it is very easy to bend it or accidently pull the cord cover from the adaptor. I have recently been told that the main reason for the problem with this adaptor is that the laptop can overheat and cause damage to the ac adaptor. We have since bought a cooling pad to keep under the laptop. We will see how this works. We also bought our son a new desktop so the laptop won't be used as much.

So, my first negative review somehow has disappeared and this item no longer exists in my Amazon order history. Interesting....

The item that arrived was not as pictured. I specifically wanted the unit with the "L" shaped connector, which was pictured, but I did not receive that. I received one with the traditional, straight in connector. Additionally, the item sent to me was obviously used, packaged in a cheap, thin plastic bag. (inside the Amazon shipper.) No where in the description did it mention this was a used AC Adapter.

The first few times we used it, it seemed fairly warm to the touch, afeer only a few minutes of use. I figured maybe that was normal. After about 5 or so uses, never using it more than an hour or so, the adapter no longer works. I'm going to call Amazon on Monday to find out why this item has mysteriously disappeared from my order history and my previous review was removed. But, I wanted to update my review as to make sure others don't get taken like I did.

In short, I would highly recommend against purchasing this or anything from this vendor. Pay a few extra dollars and get something from a "name brand" company like Targus, or get an OEM part, directly from Dell.

This Adaptor didn't even last a day. I plugged it into my laptop, and charging light came on and then a minute later the charging light went off. The Adaptor stopped working as soon as I plugged it into my laptop. Do not waste your time and money purchasing this adaptor. If I could give this adaptor a NEGATIVE 5 stars I would

I did not have any problems returning the adaptor, although I had to ask for free shipping in order to return the adaptor.

I was a bit scared of buying a replacement charger for my laptop. But I had to try it because it was so much cheaper than buying an original charger. But my fears were erased when I got this charger. It works perfectly! And the good reviews were right! The L plug to the laptop really benefits me! It does not bend the wire anymore which caused my original charger to break.

If you need a charger, this is perfect!

the connection is not stable between the laptop and the AC adapter. In fact, it doesn't work at all

honestly i was scared to order this adapter from reading all the bad reviews. but i said the price is so cheap what can i honestly lose. so i went and ordered it. came with in 2 days and i paid for standard shipping. so that was pretty quick. the packaging it came in was very flimsy and the adapter it self looks cheap. but i had it for a few weeks now and works like a charm. i have an dell inspiron b130 and this ac adapter has been working perfectly. doesnt over heat and doesnt disconnect. great buy for a great price.

The product is not a Dell - it is a generic brand without warranty or extended return policy. The one I got for my daughter worked for about 2 months and stopped. I couldn't return or exchange it with the vendor since the official return policy period had expired by then. Now I'm stuck with a broken product and have to go out and buy another one. BTW, for generic brand AC adapters there are much better prices out there than this item.

We recieved the charger in a timely fashion and it worked for only one week. I e-mailed the company to make plans for a return and never heard back from them. I think the Amazon approved company's business plan of cheap products with no customer service must be paying off because I personally gave up trying to contact (no phone #)them and lost my money for a defective part.I have since purchased another charger that works fine.
