Ages 3^-6. Elegant cut-paper collages use the word it in all kinds of 3-D variations to illustrate verbs. We see a hand grab it, a sneaker kick it, a brush paint it, a needle sew it. The verbs are in alphabetical order, and each page is handsomely designed, with the word appearing in big type above the picture; however, the playfulness may be too abstract for young children. There are concept books galore - about ABCs, numbers, colors, shapes, animals, vehicles, occupations... you get the idea. But it's rare to encounter a book about verbs, which is a pity considering how fundamental they are. Schneider's "Add It, Dip It..." fills the gap nicely with this simple, effective book. Twenty-six alphabetized verbs are presented in a graphic style reminiscent of the 70s. Toddlers to emergent readers will enjoy exploring, reading, and sharing this book.

This book is really cute. I read it through once and didn't realize how the book was written. This book had a verb for each letter of the alphabet. It was a great benifit to me when I taught a lesson on verbs.
