Editorial Reviews

From the Back Cover

"Insightful"
Vinod Khosla, Khosla Ventures

"I couldn't put it down. It's smart, practical, and proves the point that what is good for the environment is good for the economy."
David Miller, Mayor of Toronto

"A creative approach to solving our energy problems that demonstrates the power the private sector can bring to bear on global issues."
Michael G. Morris, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, American Electric Power Co.

"Sherwin proposes many straightforward yet innovative policies to deploy technology already developed, but languishing, unused."
Steve Jurvetson, Managing Director, Draper Fisher Jurvetson

"It's refreshing to see someone writing about actual solutions to the problems."
Rick Woodbury, President, Commuter Cars Corporation

"Sherwin is correct when he says that ice is the key to widespread deployment of wind turbines. Unfortunately, this is not obvious and very few policy-makers understand it. Sherwin gets it exactly right and describes it in understandable terms."
Frank Ramirez, CEO, Ice Energy

"Lucid pragmatism"
Colin Rusch, Director - Cleantech Research, ThinkEquity, LLC.

"A magnificent roadmap for creating jobs, wealth and real progress"
Nicholas Parker, Executive Chairman, Cleantech Group

5.0 out of 5 stars News We Can Use December 1, 2009
Format:Paperback
Burned out by all the polemics and grand policy posturing on the subject, I was taken very much by surprise by "Addicted to Energy". I'm unaware of anything else as straightforward and practical-minded--yet comprehensive-- as this. I'm at least as motivated by the economic and national security motivations for saving energy, as by the global warming motivation, but either way Elton Sherwin's recipe is compelling.

This is a easy to read and a well structured book.
It starts off with a proof of global warming and identifies one of the biggest contributors. Then it provides some good practical solutions for minimizing our energy consumption and reducing the carbon emissions. It starts of providing the solutions as recommendations to the Governors of States on how they can help the citizens of the state reduce their addiction to energy.

There are lot of practical solutions that have been provided in this book that can be used by all of us. I definitely recommend reading this book to learn about getting off our "Addiction to Energy"

5.0 out of 5 stars Big Ideas, Easy Read November 30, 2009
Format:Paperback
Addicted to Energy is a unique book. Written by a silicon valley venture capitalist, it contains big, yet practical ideas about how to overcome today's energy crisis. The volume is well structured into sections full of related topics, many visually summarized in charts, pictures, or bullet points which make the main ideas easy to grasp. All are documented by in-depth research for readers interested in understanding more. I would recommend this book to all concerned citizens who are confused by the wide array of information and misinformation available today regarding the nation's energy future. A well-structured, thoughtful and thorough work.
