Perfection,

I bought this cd with low expectations. Why? I am a HUGE ATB fan, i have all of his albums, singles, etc.. and the thing is that after his first three albums, i thought.. "how is he going to top that?" So with a critical mind i put the cd in, and i can honestly say it hasn't left my cd player since. I have probably listened through the album at least 100 times and it just gets better. PLUS when you buy this cd, you get so much stuff it's crazy! First it comes with a little registration card that you can go to the ATB website and register.. and what do you get for registering? A 60 minute continuous dj mix that competes with Oakenfold ANY DAY OF THE WEEK! So buying this album, you get 2 albums. PLUS the cd-rom has another 40 minutes of music! So for your [money] you get about 150 minutes of the worlds finest techno! So who am i to be saying all of this? Am i a little bubblegum pop teenybopper? NO. This review is coming from a man that owns 1000's of techno mixes... I've seen djs perform all over the world. I have heard them all from A to Z and i would put this album in the upper 99th percentile of my collection. In a word, this album is "outstandinglyawesomeperfectineverywaybuyitrightnow"

I honestly can't say that I am a ATB fan. I have always thought of him on the velveeta cheesy side of trance music. I had one of his cds ("Two Worlds") and just thought it was pretty boring and flat for trance music. I was at Border's the other day and I decided to listen to a few tracks off "Addicted to Music". Much to my surprise, I liked what I heard. The music is still on the cheesy side but this time in a good way. Then again, trance music is the [illegitimate] child of dance music. It is rarely taken seriously except when the music is by the likes of BT, Moby, Paul Oakenfold, Paul Van Dyke, George Acosta, and DJ Tiesto. It has been awhile since I last listened to anything by ATB so perhaps over the past year or two, Andre actually bettered himself as a dj. Now bad cheesy trance music is DJ Sammy who should be tarred and feathered for his covers of "California Dreaming", "Heaven", and "Boys of Summer". ATB has actually improved since I gagged on "Two Worlds". I am always a sucker for the use of female vocals. That is just me. I loved the instrumental "Gentle Melody", the melody of to the song is quite gentle and has a dreamy quality to the song. The other instrumental song "Sunset Girl" is very good too. I love the piano melodies wafting through the techno beats. There was not one song that turned me off. I honestly enjoyed every single song on "Addicted to Music". I hope ATB keeps making records as good as "Addicted to Music" is 'cause he may have converted a non-fan out of me.

i am a huge atb fan and this cd is no exception. true its not his normal stuff but that is definitely not a bad thing. he veers off from the normal clubbiness of trance and instead brings out the more mellow, sensual, adult side of the genre. overall a gorgeous mix of vocals as well as instrumentals. this is plain and simple "love-making" music.

Interesting and different,

Isn't every "dance" song these days nothing but computer-generated bass thumpety-thumps of headache-inducing boredom with two or three synthesizer cords copy\pasted on top? ATB's Addicted to Music album has plenty of the above weaved through it, but it's generally composed and unique enough to be interesting to listen to. "I Love The DJ" starts the album out in the stereotypical thumpety-thump fashion that you would expect an album of this genre to have, although it is restrained and toned down by some female vocals. The same applies for "I Don't Wanna Stop". "Everything Is Wrong" is a nice little slow tune. For some reason it sounds like a soundtrack piece for one the latest James Bond movies. (I don't know if that's good or bad.) "Long Way Home" is a very popish track with a Kylie Minogue-like background beat. "We Belong" with the chorus "I never thought I'd find what I was looking find. I never thought I'd find the place I would belong." is a surprisingly mold breaking tune that you can actually slow-dance to. "I Will Not Forget" and "Do You Love Me" get back into the cookie-cutter thumpety-thump world again while "Break My Heart" returns to a style reminiscent of 4 Strings or Ian Van Dahl. "Trilogy" is a surprising little piano piece that's very nice. The female vocals on the album don't stand apart as being exceptional, but they match the music and mood well. There's a great jewel of a hidden track after Cabana Moon. I'm guessing it's called "Ruby". It adds yet another twist to the album as being more of a pop/rock, dare I say, ballad. All in all, this album is interesting-enough to deserve 4 stars.

Great CD, MUCH MORE than just club music..GREAT MUSIC /SONG,

This is an AMAZING, simply AMAZING release from this German Producer/DJ. In My Humble Opinion, it's By Far his best Album to date! He had some help in making this Great album, from the 2 members of a Canadian Band "Wild Strawberries" The arrangements are just Breathtaking, and the songs are also Very Beautiful and Emotional, with sultry Female Vocals provided by Roberta Carter Harrison (singer of a Canadian band "Wild Strawberries"). All songs here were written by Andre Tanneberger (ATB) and Ken Harrison. Actually Roberta Carter Harrison and Ken Harrison (Composer) are both members of a Canadian band called Wild Strawberries and I think ATB did the sound Engineering. Ken Harrison is a Great Composer/Songwriter; songs on this ATB album are Great, Melodic, and are Very Reflective. Great SONGS done in Electronica/Pop style here Include: 1. "In Love with the DJ" All 7 songs listed above are Great and are all Nothing less than HIT MATERIAL. They could be performed even without synthesizers, but Synth/Electronica arrangements of ATB give them even more Beauty. It sounds just Heavenly! Now there are also some nice Instrumental Trance, Chill-Out and Techno Compositions on this CD. I like "Sunset Girl", "I will not Forget", and "Gentle Melody", very Cute and Beautiful Instrumentals. But truthfully, I enjoyed Songs more than Instrumentals (but that's just me). Overall, this is a MUST-HAVE Album for any CD Collection, whether you're a fan of club/electronica/techno music, OR just want to hear Great songs with Beautiful arrangements and Melodies. I think fans of artists like Jewel, Dido, Tori Amos, and Sarah McLachlan etc etc will also probably find a few songs on this album that they like. Great Album. thank You P.S. Make Sure to Check out Wild Strawberries, in Sound they are Not Electronica/Dance like ATB, but nevertheless Nice Pop/Rock

Very Unique,

A lot of people on here seem to think this album is too slow, too clean sounding, etc. What they're missing out on is something completely different from a typical album of the genre, or really any album sold today in general.
I listened to "No Silence" before I got this album, and let me tell you, they ARE two completely different animals. I like to describe "Addicted to Music" as a sophisticated, thought-provoking, soothing album. The more up-tempo vocal tracks include 1, 2, and 4. Each has their own unique sound--the first one is a bit darker than the others, the second one is light, bright, and great to drive to, and the fourth one is a reflective piece in the lyrics and to a degree you can feel it in the music as well. Tracks 3, 5, 7, 8, and 10 are all a bit slower than the aforementioned tracks. Each has a different feel to it, yet they all sound right when listened to at the same time. ATB is able to keep his unique style throughout while providing diversity. Tracks 6, 9, 11, 12, and 13 are all instrumental, or at least partially instrumental. These are what really makes this album worth picking up. In particular, the ninth track, "Sunset Girl", and the twelfth, "Trilogy". The pieces both feature a lot of piano melody and have their share of builds and climaxes while repeating the same general theme--in the old German style (listen to Beethoven's 5th symphony, it's the same way). "Sunset Girl" manages to paint a picture in the mind and gives a chilling, somewhat uplifting, almost macabre sound at times--definitely my favorite track to date! "Trilogy" also manages to capture emotion well--I'd want the song played at my wedding. Finally, there's a hidden track. Keep the last one running after it's played. The song is called "Ruby". Another song like the second group I mentioned, but again with a different feel--to me, it has an academia feel to it, rather scholarly, as if it's something really smart people would listen to. This isn't an album for everyone. The people who only listen to rock and rap won't appreciate this at all. But if you have a good brain, a heart, and that special knack for appreciating this sort of music, I highly suggest you buy this!

This is why I am addicted to music..,

This CD is a mix of dance, get-up trance, and slow relaxing melodies, all in one. What I think Andre was trying to achieve with this CD is to make a blend of dance and slow melodies. The lyrics that he writes are sung beautifully by Roberta Harrison, and go perfectly with the moods of his songs. Though some songs may be a little too slow for some, there is always a awesome dance track the next. Kind of a get-up dance your heart out, then sit down relax and rest, then get ready for the next dance song. His single "I Don't Wanna Stop" is awesome, lyrics, sound, mood, everything. A great song to dance the night away, while "Long Way Home" has a up-beatish, almost comical mood to it. Other dance tracks include "I Will Not Forget" and "Do You Love Me", which all sound so good. He does a lot of slow songs, which are relaxing and smooth. This CD is more emotional I think, more dedicated to someone ATB had known, meaning that this work was really emotional for him as well. This CD basically just shows what ATB is so good at, making people addicted to music. His tracks are one-of-a-kind, with addicting melodies, moving beats. Don't miss out on yet another CD from ATB. Besides the actual music CD, there is a bonus CD with an insight into his DVD, and a hour-long movie of him performing in Chicago.

Music that makes you addicted!,
This review is from: Addicted to Music (Audio CD)
I very rarely give a album 5/5 stars but this album takes the price. I was pretty dissapointed about the last album, but this one is better. ATB started off with fast tracks, having a special sound, but the longer i followed them( maybe i should say him cause it's a one man group) the songs got slower and slower. This album only got slow songs, but they are very inspiring, beautiful and sensual. A lot of people like Air that also makes this kind of songs, but ATB are far ahead of them. Most of the songs are good here. They are original and always have strong melodies, which is one of the main factors in dance music. I do prefer instrumental songs, a few here includes a female vocalist and even if she got a beautiful voice i prefer the others. It often got a tendency to get commercial when the songs have lyrics, those songs are not but just my 2 cents. The instrumental songs are the best though "Do You love me" and "Sunset Girl" "In love with the DJ" and the little diffrent "Cabana Moon". A very pleasant album, for those that like slower trance. Looks like ATB aventually found their new sound.

if you gotta buy 1 cd this year, make it this one,
This review is from: Addicted to Music (Audio CD)
i had been pretty disappointed with his previous 2 albums. sure, he had a couple cool songs but the rest were basically filler tracks. this album is comparable to the first one. as in, every single track is worth listening to over and over. but the sound is much different. he's leaning more towards the style of hits like "you're not alone" in this album.
