Shopaholizm is a real problem worldwide. I love shopping and now after reading this book, I am more aware of the traps of addiction in wich I can fall. I was interested to learn what motivates people to shop sometimes even unnecessary items. The book also contains information of clubs and specialized centers that can help us to overcome this obsession.

3.0 out of 5 stars women who spend to much and ...Christianity
This book had a some good ideas and some interesting stories about real people that have issues with money. This book had a some good ideas and some interesting stories about real people that have issues with money. The part I didn't like was the smattering of bible verses and the near constant mention of Jesus, God or the bible (this was the focus of the 40 + page recovery section). This book is great if you want to hear about overshopping and the christian perspective and christian way to recover but if you are looking for something that just deals with women and money in a more secular way, this is not for you. The book title, back cover and description should have given more of an indication that religion would be a focal point of the book.

As a Christian woman, I was hoping this book would really help with my problem of overspending, but it didn't! I don't even plan to finish reading the last 60 pages of the book. I'm looking for a book that goes more into depth on how to solve the problem, and I personally don't believe 12 step programs are the key to solving shopping addictions. Had I known this book so heavily relied on testimonies, I would not have purchased it.

O'Connor has handled a tough topic for many women in a manner that is not only insightful and at times humorous but also offers help for those women who suffer with money issues. I highly recommend this book for any woman who has ever spent money and wondered why!

5.0 out of 5 stars Regain control over your spending, May 27, 2006
This review is from: Addicted to Shopping and Other Issues Women Have with Money (Paperback)
About the time I was maxing out my credit card in too many digits to mention, I found Karen O'Connor's book. Through it I realized that my lack of financial discipline was not only hurting my family but also keeping me from helping others as I'd like. While reading her book, I had to face up to some negative behaviors but now am on the right track to freedom from financial bondage. I highly recommend this book!

Very good book, deals with different aspects of overspending. Something for everyone with every kind of spending problem. Highly recommended. It made me feel like I was not the only one and that other people controlled their problems, so can I!

I really wish there had been something on the cover of this book letting people know that there are many references to chapter and verse in this now unhelpful volume. I really have a problem with my spending, and I was looking toward this book to offer some COMMON SENSE assistance with DOWN TO EARTH ideas. If you don't believe, I don't see how this book is going to be of help. Rip-offy waste of money.
