Sweetbox (and Jade) are so talented it is unreal. This is some of the best female vocal pop on the planet, making mainstream American pop (Spears, Lohan, Duff) look like a JOKE. The song "Beautiful Girl" sounds like a combination of a great song by Gewn Stefani and Cyndi Lauper combined, and the beats are jaw dropping throughout. The single "Addicted" has a beat reminiscent of "In The Club" by 50 Cent, but what many people don't know is that Sweetbox has been doing music like this for a decade, and that artists like Timbaland (my favorite whipping boy, for those of you who have read my other reviews) have been ripping Sweetbox off for years. This is a pop album that is a masterful achievement, and like Stefani, Lauper, Janet, and Madonna, this record is both edgy AND smooth at times, providing the listener with an emotional rollercoaster that never lets up until the last precious beat. This album is one to buy, and one to savor and cherish. Albums like this can restore one's faith in pop music - it is just unbelievable how much better this is than dreck like Fergie and Clarkson. HIGHLY SUGGESTED from a man who has literally heard it all.

Not as good as her older stuff, but still good,

My husband and I discovered the music of Sweetbox after two Jade's songs were used in the Final Fantasy X-2 game. After that, we went out and bought all of her albums. She's one of the (very) few artists we agree on. Our musical tastes are diametrically opposed, with him listening to hip-hop and rap, and me listening to classical and country. So if we can agree on an artist, you know she has to be good.
Since this page doesn't give the track list for this album, I'll provide it here: 1. Graceland 2. Addicted 3. Here Comes the Sun 4. Pride 5. Bold & Delicious 6. Every Step 7. Break Down 8. Dreams 9. Ladies Night 10. Vaya Con Dios * 11. Beautiful Girl 12. Over & Over 13. Happy Tears * 14. Million Miles * Bonus Tracks for Japan I would recommend you buy this version (the import) of this album, otherwise you'll miss out on tracks 10 and 14. I've found this album has fewer slower songs, and Jade has become more "pop" with this album. While she still uses the influence of classical music, it seems to be a bit on the back burner with this album. She seems to be moving away from her marvelous signature style just a little bit, which is a shame. But she's still head and shoulders about the other pop princesses out there. I recommend this album, and also highly recommend her previous albums of JADE, CLASSIFIED, ADAGIO, and AFTER THE LIGHTS. Again, try to get your hands on the import versions of these albums, otherwise you'll miss out on a few tracks that don't appear on the North American releases. Don't worry, the liner in the Japanese / Import versions are still in English! The import versions are available on Amazon, but you might have to do a bit of searching.

Before I give my review, let me give you the specifics for this album:
This album I'm rating is one of the Addicted CD's (there are 5 versions total), but it's the European Version. The 5 releases are the regular and limited editions that were released in Japan, a 1-disc and 2-disc versions released in Korea, and 1 released in Europe. This is the European's official track list: 1. Graceland 2. Addicted 3. Here Comes The Sun 4. Pride 5. Bold & Delicious 6. Every Step 7. Break Down 8. Dreams 9. Ladies Night 10. Beautiful Girl 11. Over & Over 12. Million Miles 13. Addicted (Boom Boom Remix Feat. DJ Bo & InDJaction Crew) *14. Addicted (Rich Rich Remix Feat. ATD & Da Rich Crew) Enhanced Part: 1. Addicted (Music Video) 2. "Live" DVD Trailer. *Contains a hidden song called "The Winner Takes It All", which starts at 9:12. This album has so many great songs, but the regularly released Addicted (the one from Japan) or the Addicted CD from Korean Version are probably a lot better than the European Version. The quality of the disc isn't great, at all. The overall sound for the album is very low, lower than most albums. The volume ends up increasing as you get to the end of the album, but doesn't increase that much. The only reason to buy this album is because of the remixes at the end of the album, the hidden track "The Winner Takes It All", and the enhanced part of the CD, which contains two videos, "Addicted" music video and a trailer of the Live album. The videos overall are not worth it because the quality really sucks bad. And, this album doesn't include the songs "Vaya Con Dios" and "Happy Tears", which are better songs than most of the "Addicted" remixes out there. The Korean Version contains a 2nd disc (DVD), which contains some videos from the "Live" album. And the Japan version probably has better CD quality, since that album is the regular release. I would most likely recommend the Korean version, and buy the "Sweet Perfect Box" which has every Japanese released (studio) album plus an extra CD containing every single official versions of their number one single "Everything's Gonna Be Alright". If you don't want all of the other albums, which are really great and possibly a lot better than "Addicted", than go for the Japanese version. That CD contains better songs, but with no extra content. I guess the only real good thing about the European version, is the booklet. It contains lyrics for all of the songs (excluding the remixes), and plenty of cool and beautiful photos of Jade. If you like this album, or any of her recent albums, I highly recommend you check out her other albums. More specifically, "After the Lights", "Adagio", "Classified", and "Jade" albums. Those albums are way better than "Addicted", so be sure to check them out because Miss Jade Valerie Villalon is a very talented artist, and it's a shame that she's no longer a part of Sweetbox. Her Sweetbox days were such a blast!

I love all the songs on the album. My favourite songs are Everystep, Addicted, Bold and Delicous, Pride, and Over * Over.
If your fan of pop music, you enjoy this album. I highly recommend this album. Jade did a good job singing all of these songs!

Jade has the best voice I've ever heard, and she really proves it here,

I can't help but love Sweetbox. When i first recieved this CD, I was a little disappointed because I thought it was going to be better. Then, once I started embracing different music and lyrics and voices and I relistened to this alubm, I've realized that this album is amazing. The faster songs are all a bit similar and catchy and fun. The slower songs are very similar and sometimes a litle boring but they really show off Jade's voice. Overall, this is a great CD for a Sweetbox fan or any fan of pop music.

Great album; weak DVD,

I've already written a full review on the Japanese version of this "ADDICTED" album, so I won't say much about the album itself - only regarding the changes that are on this version, which is the Korean version of the album.
First of all, two tracks are missing: "Vaya Con Dios" & "Happy Tears". I won't miss Vaya Con Dios, simply because it's a good track, but not unforgetable. "Happy Tears", on the over hand, is missing on the album, and that pretty much sucks, because it's a very good track. Instead of these two, we get two remixes to the famous "Addicted" track. The "Potblack Club" remix is pretty good, actually, but the other one is just plain BAD. With this version comes an exclusive DVD, which features five performances from Jade's latest tour in Korea called "The Bold & Delicious Tour". The track list for this DVD is: 1. Graceland 2. Don't Push Me 3. Pride 4. Addicted 5. Here Comes the Sun Now, while it's nice to hear the songs performed in front of a live audience, the performances themselves are very weak. It's very hard to watch this DVD, simply because you can get so bored from looking at Jade just standing there and singing, without anything interesting going on. Even though this version is distributed in only 10,000 copies world-wide, do yourselves a favour, and buy the Japanese version. The remixes on this version are unnecessary, while "Happy Tears" is a great song which every Sweetbox fun must have.

Sweetbox's 5th main Cd,
By
This review is from: Addicted (Audio CD)
Addicted, although we can prolly count is as on up as a 10th albulm from Sweetbox, generally, aside from the greatest hits and behind the scenes albulms, it's only Jade's 5th. Although this cd has many songs i listen to everyday, I wouldn't say this albulm is Jade's best. If you're a Sweetbox beginner, I'de pick up After The Lights or Adagio first. Because they give you a idea of what all Sweetbox can do. This albulm, althought better than most stuff from other artists ive heard, seems just a little faster written and not as classical influenced as Jade's earlier stuff. Althought if you like Sweetbox's more upbeat stuff, this is definatly the albulm to get!
But now I'll explain the good things about this albulm. Jade is back with her newest albulm after almost a two year wait! And with the hits like the songs Addicted, Pride, and Break Down, you're sure to be Dancing or feeling lonely along with the songs. With as many dance hits as sad love songs on this albulm, jade never has stopped using a variety of influences, from hispanic music, all the way to oriental influences. If you're looking for creativity more than what you can get from silly pop stars like Brittney, this is the albulm for you! |
