Excellent book, April 1, 2010
This review is from: Addiction Counseling Review: Preparing for Comprehensive, Certification, and Licensing Examinations (Hardcover)
I borrowed Addiction Counseling Review (ACR) from a co-worker to study for a state certification exam, and am using it again to prepare for the MAC. ACR is thorough enough that I would like my own copy. However, at the time of this writing it is far more expensive than I can afford. Like the previous reviewer, I too would like more access to practice tests. While ACR isn't strong in that regard, it does provide a considerable amount of very useful information. It also provides accompanying multiple choice questions throughout. As the book is read, questions regarding the current subject are provided in offset boxes with an answer key in the back. It seems to be a good concept in which the reader ends up answering many exam-type questions. I think ACR achieves it's overall purpose to be a preparatory review for certification exams. To be fair, I'm not sure any single book can be thorough enough or offer enough practice to remove my anxiety about these high-stakes, high-cost exams.
