5.0 out of 5 stars What it would be like to REALLY be a vampire, September 19, 2011
This review is from: The Addiction (DVD)
Shot in only 20 days, this is a gritty urban view of what it would really be like to be a vampire.

It's not romantically juvenile like Twilight, it's not over dramatic like Dracula with Winona Rider and it's not fancy.

But, if vampires really did exist this is as close to what that reality probably would be like. Trying to get the closing song (and usually I hate rap & hip hop) but the music fits in so well with this and Christopher Walken (as usual) gives a stellar performance, lending a credibility to a otherwise fanciful genre.

Many people criticize this movie because again, it's not fancy or romantic, like life, at times, it can be brutal and harsh.

This is a vampire movie for a more mature and intellectual crowd.

If there were such a thing as vampires, it would be a hellish existence, like Dante's Paradise Lost, a existence of eternal damnation.

Not glamorous, not romantic but a existence of being aware you are dead and rotting without peace or soul progression.

Lili Taylor and Edie Falco also give good performances and added to the over all dark moodiness.

The Addiction, to me, was a very interesting modern take on a ancient legend.
