'Addison's Disease in Dogs' is a personal account by a dog owner to find the best treatments for her diseased Pet Dog. It tells of the tireless efforts by Stephanie Kenrose - the authoress and dog owner - to search and research various options open in the diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of the disease - one that could prove fatal to canines. It was not written for professionals but that does not make this book any less valuable. In simple and easily comprehensible language, Kenrose describes all the symptoms, diagnosis and treatment options open, their relative efficacies, side effects of medications, costs etc. Of course a professional veterinarian could have written a more detailed, perhaps even more comprehensive medical handbook on Addison's Disease, but Kenrose's effort should be lauded not least because she has added a personal touch in the fight against the disease. I would definitely recommend this book to dog owners who need a quick and easy reference when their pets are afflicted with Addison's.

Anyone who has ever called themselves a dog-lover will immediately be drawn into this book while reading the introduction alone, which you can preview before purchase. Not only do you feel for poor Shakti-Holly getting sick, but become curious as to how she and other dogs overcome this horrible disease. Addison's Disease in Dogs uses this personal story to lead into informing the reader about Addison's and how to care for dogs who have it. When people like Shakti-Holly's original owners feel that when their dog gets sick they can put it down and just get a new one, it's encouraging to know there are people out there willing to fight for their dog's life who are set on educating other owners on how to do the same. If your dog has Addison's, or you plan on adopting a rescue and want to be prepared, this book is for you. All technical terms are easily explained in the glossary so it's ideal for those who know nothing about the disease.

Book was in an easy to read format and done in such a way that even I could understand. Got a little further into the scientific part of Addison's than what I could really grasp, but overall it was very helpful.

My dog is not just a dog, he's my baby and my buddy. When you love your dog as much as I do, then you know how much it breaks your heart when you find out that they are sick or hurt. Addison's disease is one of the scariest words that can come out of your veterinarian's mouth. Your dog is your baby, he's your best friend, and it's hard to accept that he can have a serious problem. At first you think "what is that? I've never even heard of that." You're probably wondering "why my dog? This isn't fair." The first thing you need to do is pick up this book. It's full of the facts and information that you need to understand what it is that you can do to help your dog throughout his life with Addison's. It does get a little in depth on the scientific part of the disease, but to me that's important. It's important to know the hows and the whys of the disease. Just remember that there is hope and there are options to improve the quality of your dog's life.

I didn't expect much for $10, but this is a great resource of information that would probably have taken me hours to compile on my own. Addison's disease in dogs can be shattering, but this book can help you really understand what your dog is going through, as well as how to cope and treat the illness. A pretty comprehensive resource that is easy to read and very informative.

If your dog has just been diagnosed this book is a good start. The info in this book is available elsewhere, but this book puts it all in one place.Just FYI, if your dog has Addisons you will need to do a lot more homework, but this book is a good start
