Works just as advertised,
This review is from: Expresscard Cardbus Adapter (Personal Computers)
This product is the most economical (by viewing similar products on Amazon) way to connect a PC cardbus to an Expresscard equipped computer. I connected a Verizon Wireless PC 5750 card to it, plugged the adaptor into my MacBook Pro, and it was immediately recognized. There are no drivers to install, all you need is the appropriate driver for your cardbus installed on your machine before using.

DON'T Buy Addonics,

This review is from: Expresscard Cardbus Adapter (Personal Computers)
DO NOT buy this product. It DOESN"T work and Addonics will not stand behind their products. I bought several for laptops that I own. The cards do not work with any of the laptops (Dell, Sony, and Toshiba) when you insert the cards the laptops all immediately crash. After considerable time trying to get the Addonic support to resolve they finally said that the cards "won't work" and suggested I return them for a refund - ONLY Addonics subsequently determined that they will not refund the product. Hard to understand their concept of customer service, but basically purchasing Addonics products is no different than throwing money out the window.

Worked For Me,

This review is from: Expresscard Cardbus Adapter (Personal Computers)
I took a gamble with this adapter, with all the negative reviews. It does work for me, with a few issues. Namely, it isn't a tight fit in the slot, and a can rock from side to side, which will break the connection, and it does stick out too far with my Sierra 881 aircard, and needs to be inserted a few times for the card to get recognized. Just don't remove the card while your laptop is reading it (indicated on the 881 by a flashing blue light), or the port will lock up, which may require a hard reboot. It is ridiculously overpriced, and should cost around $20.

Could not use it,

This review is from: Expresscard Cardbus Adapter (Personal Computers)
I ordered this product through the advise of my Network Administrator thinking it was a direct conversion of the PCMCIA to Expresscard. I tried to plug in my PCMCIA serial card, but my PC would not recognize it. After looking through the documentation, this product is designed for network cards (hard wire and wireless) only. This product may work fine as designed, but I cannot use it for what I intended.

This product worked great. Connected Sprint PX-500 broardband card to PC and it works good. It does hang out of the PC, but what do you expect going from a large connector to a small slot.

This adapter works perfectly to connect my Sprint wireless mobile broadband card (a Novatel Merlin S720) to my new HP laptop. My problem was that the Sprint card uses a "cardbus" (or "PC card") connector, but my new laptop lacks a cardbus slot, it only has an incompatible "Express Card" slot. The Addonics Expresscard Cardbus adapter worked perfectly right out of the box. I am connected to Amazon via the adapter right now! Bravo, Addonics! I love it when things work great.

Flimsy; might break easily?,

Once installed it seems too delicate to be used on a laptop. I purchased it to be able to use my old air-card on my new computer. I inserted it with the air-card attached into the computer but removed it immediately for fear of bumping it and having it break. The air-card itself contributes to this problem because its length makes the adapter more susceptible to being bumped; its weight and antenna exacerbate the problem. A better solution for me might be a DSL air-card to use in either computer.

Since most new laptops come with expresscard slots, this adapter is essential for using old cards with new laptops.

does the job, but makes the wireless data card stick out so far from the laptop that it needs a support to hold it from beneath.
