Answer To Below Review,
By Erin (Brentwood) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Address Book: How to Reach anyone who is anyone (Address Book, 10th ed) (Paperback)
To address the review regarding Douglas Adams' email address, the answer is simple: Michael Levine puts about as much thought into his books as he does trying to gain publicity for his clients: NONE! Believe me, Levine doesn't know how to get in touch with any celebrities--he hasn't represented one since he split from another PR company and formed his own. Don't waste any money on this book. If you want to contact a celebrity, just do a little research online and you can find out what company represents them, and send your mail through them. That will help you to avoid getting back a bunch of letters marked RETURN TO SENDER that you will get if you use the addresses in Levine's lame book.

Better Ways To Write To Stars,
By
This review is from: The Address Book: How to Reach anyone who is anyone (Address Book, 10th ed) (Paperback)
This book is pretty useless, which I don't really feel is the author's fault. Celebrities probably change contact info all the time and it's impossible to keep up.I am an autograph collector and I have found the best way to get autographs (most specifically for celebrities) is to find the address of the network their TV show is on and write to them in care of the network. I have probably gotten responses on 90% of the letters I have sent. I think that would be much more effective than buying this book and getting most of your letters returned due to wrong addresses.

good BUT!,
By rob poto (PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Address Book (9th ed) (Paperback)
good book but i have already found many addresses that are incorrect or have just changed. Author states that the book INCLUDES hundreds of E-mail addresses but has forgotten his own! You can write him with new addresses but it would be nice for him to update the new addresses online for those who purchased his book.

Road to nowhere,

This review is from: The Address Book: How to Reach Anyone Who Is Anyone (Paperback)
I picked up this book by chance while looking to solicit blurbs for my own 'hilarious' book, Love Song for W (ISBN 0595311911). After scanning the entries for about 15 minutes, I knew I was in trouble. Even without going through the formality of sending out mail and having it returned, you can tell that many addresses don't pass the smell test. Several entries are clear victims of sloppy cut-and-paste work, leaving in data from other listings. (Either that, or Bill Gates really does live on One Microsoft Way, right in the heart of Los Angeles, as we're told here. And I haven't watched Letterman in a while, but I'm pretty sure that Stephanie Seymour doesn't have any affiliation with 'Worldwide Pants, Inc.' Trust me, the ASPCA won't let one of Axl Rose's paramours anywhere near Stupid Pet Tricks.)
Maybe I'm being too harsh... then again, what else can you say about a book that tells us Toby 'McGwire' is a baseball player living at '250 Stadium Drive' in St. Louis. (For that matter, I don't even think that MARK McGwire lays his hat there these days, either. He's too busy pleading the Fifth before Congress while shedding a lonesome tear, reminiscing about the good times when he and his Mafia drug-dealer played Liar's Poker with C-Notes, the loser getting a steroid-laced beating he'd never forget.) Need more? How about a 368-page book that wastes TWO entries on the Shue Family? (Everyone who's still worrying about Billy and Allison from Melrose Place, raise your right hands.) How about numerous entries that are clearly addresses for studios or agencies but leave the company's name to your imagination? Would it be too much to leave in 'c/o Paramount,' for instance? You might as well send out your Valentines to 'Brad Pitt, Hollywood, USA,' not far off from 'c/o Santa Claus, the North Pole.' If you really need to contact centers of influence, your best bet is to sign up with an online company that will bill you month-to-month and will actually have a staff to make sure the addresses are more accurate than 'Fidel Castro, P O Box 361, Cuba.' (I'm not making these up, by the way. Did I mention the political listings that display an obvious leaning to the Libertarian side? No wonder the book is sloppy -- the author was legalizin' it!!) I hate to say it, but it really feels like the flunky they hired from the data-entry temp agency just didn't put their heart and soul into the project. And if they can't get excited about their work, who can?

I love this book!! It has gotten me so many free autographs! I have written the Pentagon, have gotten autographs from Generals, and Dick Cheney. I have gotten autographs from Chevy Chase, Dick Clark, Pamela Anderson and Jenny Mc Carthy. That all alone is worth the book!! I have also written Michael Levine, he sent the autograph very quickly of himself!..Hall of Famer Whitey Ford sent my card back autographed in a week, personalized. Bob Feller sent me a autographed baseball personalized, as did Don Laren.

The Most Reliable Source For Addresses,
By
This review is from: The Address Book: How to Reach anyone who is anyone (Address Book, 10th ed) (Paperback)
You know those advertisements you see in magazines and newspapers where you can order celebrity address lists? Well, I've sent money in to a few of them and mailed off many letters, only to have junk mail concerning joining fan clubs fill my mail box. Now, I'm not saying all of these businesses are like this, I'm sure some are legit. But, if you want the most reliable source for addresses, you can't beat Michael Levine!... I've purchased his books for several years, and because of his painstaking steps at compiling information for his books, I have many autographs I never thought I'd get. Included in my collection are autographs from stars such as Stacy Keach(Gosh, I miss the Mike Hammer TV Series) Tom Glavine, Phyliss Diller, Richard Petty(The Real King of Racing) Pete Rose(Put him in the Hall!...)and Dan Quayle. And while you could get some mail returned to you stamped "address unknown" it's generally because (as I'm sure you already know) many celebrities move several times during the course of their careers. I'm an autograph hound, and Michael Levine's books have been a tremendous help to me.The book not only contains lots of movie star addresses, but, also addresses to bunches of corporations, political leaders, music stars, and other people from various vocations. And as I'm sure you must realize, not every known celebrity is listed in this guide, only the ones most people are looking for. In short, this is a book that attacks the quest for the most sought after addresses and websites in the world!

This book is one of my greatest resources as a fundraiser for charitable organizations. I have been able to access many celebrities to assist with donations, and actionable items with the Address Book. I get the updated book every time it comes out.

This review is from: The Address Book (8th Edition) (Paperback)
I have Mr. Levine's Address book's 8th and 9th edition and I just last week bought his new revised and updated one The 8th edition has a red cover the 9th edition has a white cover and his newest one has a dark green cover. I use all three books to obtain my autographs by mail and in over two years I have collected over seven hundred autographs. Mr.Levine should be congratulated on a very fine and informative book. I would reccomend this book to anyone who is thinking about starting a hobby of collecting autographs. In just two words "It Works" I hope his next one will be even bigger. Thanks Michael for a great book.

Rolodex in a Book,

This review is from: The Address Book: How to Reach anyone who is anyone (Address Book, 10th ed) (Paperback)
A great, handy reference book, "The Address Book: How to Reach Anyone Who Is Anyone" by Michael Levine is a helpful book for anyone looking to write celebrities, politicians, businessmen, and other notable personalities. Each contact is alphabetized by last name, and contains the address, person's occupation, and in some cases, birthdays (for celebrities only) and webpages (for companies). As an avid letter writer, I found this book helpful in providing me with addresses at demand instead of hunting them down through the Internet by doing searches or going to company webpages. A great book many will find resourceful, "The Address Book: How to Reach Anyone Who Is Anyone" will help many find the contact information they seek without the need for a major Internet search or many telephone calls. It makes a great gift for students, business professionals, and for anyone who avidly writes letters.

I really like this book, it's got thousands of addresses and email addresses for added convenience. And, it works: I mailed out eighteen letters and received twelve back already...I wrote to Mr. Levine as well commending him on his works (I'm a fan of two of his other books I've read, that's why I got this one) and he sent me back a nice thank you. The updated version is supposed to be coming out soon (it gets updated every two years and I was looking to see if it's out yet) and I'm anxious for it...for one, I'm a writer but dabble in a million other things so it's helped me with where to send any inquiries I have and ideas on where to send my works and who to contact; so this reference book is very useful. I would recommend it for the bookshelf for both professional and fun uses.
