5.0 out of 5 stars Easy and useful September 24, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I like things that serve more than one purpose. 7 Dragons is making some very good content that justifies carrying the Kindle everywhere. Notepad is fabulous.

I have a lot of my contacts on my gmail, a lot more written down in various address books and I have been meaning to consolidate them but I don't carry a computer or smart phone so that means paper. Hard to update. This application works for me as I often have the Kindle when I go out and I always know where it is.
I spent a bit of time cleaning up my Gmail Contacts first and putting in some info from the paper address books, then I exported to VCard format (actually used the wrong format first. Didn't work). The help instructions were clear as to where to put the file and what would happen when I opened Address Book if I did it correctly. Worked like a charm.

I like that I can easily look up by first or last name, as well as search. It's easy to update, too. I expect to use this quite a bit and I will also take advantage of the back-up features in case something happens to the Kindle.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Little Address Book September 24, 2011

One comment...There IS a security on your Kindle.

You Can Make Your OWN PERSONAL PASSWORD for your Kindle, just look it up in the Table of Contents for your Kindle..(or call Amazon for help. They are very helpful on any Kindle question).

This address book is VERY FLEXIBLE in adding information . Just have to play around with it a bit. You can add more than one phone number/ email address for each person. Easy to look up a persons information, by first or last name, friend , family or co-worker. Just what I was looking for. Even can add birthdays ! Great to have when you are away from your home, and you can have someones email addresses, phone numbers and addresses right at your finger tips. (A wish I have had for along time when I am away from my home or out of state)

Just make sure you do make your own personal password, and no one can get your personal information.

Great job again !!

2.0 out of 5 stars One Major Glitch! November 29, 2011
By Fawn

I had a major glitch in which one contact kept taking over all the other contacts. No matter who I clicked on I kept getting the same person. The others sort of disappeared. Contacted developer, said they were going to check it out. Was refunded in full. Disappointed because I really liked the handiness of this app.

5.0 out of 5 stars This is the best address book. November 11, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I use my address book to keep track of my authors and the books I have read. This address book has a note section in it that allows you to list my books so I don't repurchase books that I have already read. I read alot and over the years have collected a long list. This address book lets you group your contacts so you can view all one type at a time. Very easy to use and easy to download from your computer.

I hope that it will be updated so that I will be able to use it on the new Kindle Paperwhite.

4.0 out of 5 stars good product but could be better October 6, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
I have used address cards previously on another device long ago (Newton MessagePad). Therefore I'm a bit spoiled. I have tried both Address Book by 7 Dragons and Contacts by A Gamz. I really like the group feature with Address Book. While I find the program useful, I do have some areas where I wish for more.

Here's what annoys me or what I'd like to see added:

Address field - It has a name field. I'm used to the contact name being used for the name.
Groups - in Manage Groups, you can create and edit group names. I'd like to use some kind of promote/demote feature to rearrange my group order.

Contact types - All contacts are of the same type. Could there be support for business cards? These would have company names instead of first/last names.

Search - could a search be created that allows me to search for all members of an organization?

Fields - could a field for Spouse be added?

Flipbook - When scrolling among the letters, could the items associated with the letter automatically list when either landing or pausing on a letter? Right now I use the scroll button but have to actually click to get the list. Minor, I know.

Importing - when I imported cards, frequently the city appeared in the 'Street Address 2' field. This also threw off the City/State/Zip fields.

Could a link to another card be made? Thus if I have a card for a company, I could see a list of all cards of employees that I have linked to the company card. Then I could click on the linked name and go to that card?

Still, Address Book is a good program. It will list your contacts with most of the information you might need. It just made me want more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Reads Outlook 2010 Contacts November 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
First let me thank 7 Dragons for keeping the application price low.

I purchased the Address Book app and installed via wireless on my Kindle 3. Installation went without a glitch.

My primary contact list is in Outlook 2010.

I initially misread the import instructions from 7 Dragons and attempted to import the contacts as a .csv file. (I really need to learn to read...)

I sent 7 Dragons a request for assistance via email and Abhi of 7 Dragons was kind enough to respond with a recommendation, and an instructional website link.

Converting the .csv file to VCard proved difficult (apparently there is some glitch in the way I have the .csv file saved, or with the data therein that causes problems with converter apps).

However within Outlook 2010 itself one may select a contact record, go to "file", "save as" and export the record as a VCard file. Those with extensive contact lists may prefer to export as a .csv file and then convert to a VCard format, but in my case it was faster to just select single records. Even on a Windows XP netbook the process takes only seconds. Once I had all of the individual records converted I plugged the Kindle 3 into the USB port on my netbook and copied the files to the Kindle. After disconnecting the Kindle I started Contacts and the program automatically loaded all of the VCards.

EDIT: I should have noted in the original review that the fields were somewhat skewed - the second address field was filled with the city, city with zip, etc. I believe (but did not test) that having the second address field in Outlook would cause the data to fall into the correct fields.

1000 contact limit
Fr. Stephen,
At the moment we had to go with 1,000 contacts to get Address Book shipped. The system we are using can handle more but it slows down certain things such as searching through the contacts. In a future release we will try and expand to 2,000 contacts.

We can't promise. All I can... Read more
