Book Description

Join Miranda Perry on her harrowing journey into the dark world of vampires. In this three book series, Miranda Perry unwittingly becomes embroiled in a merciless game of revenge. She will need all her wits to overcome this ultimate evil as she battles to save her soul -- and the souls of everyone she loves.

Still shaken from the untimely death of her father, Miranda is forced to assume control of his business empire. Beginning the arduous task of overhauling Perry Antique's outdated cataloguing system, she soon discovers an object that her father hid from the world. A priceless, undocumented Fabergé egg, its interior holds two rubies. One heart-shaped, the other is a marquise cut stone that represents a single droplet of blood. In attempting to ascertain its authenticity, she is placed in the crosshairs of a cunning vampire named Adduné. He is consumed with exacting vengeance for an unpardonable transgression -- an offense that demands the ultimate punishment.

Let the adventure begin!

5.0 out of 5 stars Not just Vampires May 12, 2012
Format:Paperback
I picked up on this book via Twitter. I confess I like vampire books, but they must be well written and feel authentic, there are too many inane vampire/romance type books out there already.

So, yes this did have a realistic feel to it. We are introduced to the main female character straight away, Miranda Perry. The interesting thing about Miranda was that, while I could often see and emphasize with her feelings and points of view, I didn't really take to her as a person. This may have been because the background of the character is very alien to me, whereas other readers would recognise it more easily and hence feel more empathy. But this in no way stopped the book from being enjoyable, it simply lent it an air of realism that is often missing from books in this genre. She is a strong woman with flaws, not a simpering victim or a one note "sassy" heroine.

The vampire element in this book creeps up on you. Suspense is allowed to develop, and not forced down your throat. An interesting facet was the way that the vampires turned the victims own minds against them, something that can be seen in books such as the original Dracula by Bram Stoker, but which can often be missing in modern writing, where the emphasis is on bite and run action. Yes the vampires did have the traditional biting and blood sucking elements, but this was kept in context as being only one part of an amoury of often psychological weapons.

I have to disagree with one of the previous reviews, I found the ending entirely appropriate and in character if you bear in mind that this is book one of a trilogy and as such will not, in the end, stand on its own. The ending simply paves the way for what is to come and really highlights the way that the vampire has used an array of tactics, physical and mental, to gain the upper hand.

5.0 out of 5 stars Addune-a different perspective on vampires July 31, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
I just finished the book Addune and the ending was abrupt with the promise of a second installment to continue the saga. I found the book interesting, many twists and turns, kept my interest until the end. The main character Miranda was a little naive and timid about the paranormal. She became stronger later, but should have equaled Tiffany. This book presented the darker reality of the vampire characters. The cold heartedness of their characters was nothing like Twilight which was refreshing. I recommend this book for anyone wanting a new perspective, action and some romantic heat.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nail-biter Horror! October 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Amazon Verified Purchase
Addune is my first vampire read. I found it fascinating and downright scary. I enjoyed Ms Potocki's elegant and descriptive writing style which spotlights the elaborate lifestyle of the heroine as well as the vampire.
I found Addune to be not only a horror story, but a psychological thriller with the mind games enjoyed by the antagonist.
There were nail-biting twists in this novel, and the final twist at the end had this reader begging for more.

It is very long and wordy (at least it seems that way). I am soldiering through, I'm about 1/2 way through. I'm thinking if you are a Twilight fan you will love this book. Read more
