I purchased this keypad for the purpose of gaming and performing live electronic music, not data entry.
It just arrived today, I opened the box, plugged it in and popped up metapad to try it out. So far, I'm quite pleased. However, the pressure required to press the keys is about four times what is needed on a normal laptop keyboard, and about twice what is needed on my klunky, classic desktop keyboard.

That said, I still love it. I wouldn't want to spend 2 hours punching numbers into a spreadsheet with it, but I'm confident it will perform quite well for my intended purposes. But, I am hoping that it breaks in a bit with use. Also, the flat, ribbon style, retracting cable works like a charm, and it's exactly the size and weight I'd hoped (I'll post a customer picture soon).

This thing is going to be great plugged into my laptop at shows, and I'm looking forward to playing my favorite space sim with a joystick in each hand and this thing just in reach without a full keyboard in the way. =D

did not work with my MAC ( but it did work with my PC) . when i called the number on the back of the box, it was disconnected. went on their website and left a message for tech support. they never called back so couple of days later I called back and selected the sales option rather than tech support. she paged tech support and after about 20 seconds of trouble shooting, he just transferred me to the RMA department. Clearly , he must get these calls all day long !!!! The RMA guy said he would send me a call tag to return the unit and to send him an email with my info. then he sends back an email saying to contact the seller ( amazon) instead. he outright lied to me. all i can hope is that other potential MAC users read this review and they DON'T BUY THIS KEYPAD. Actually, I would never buy a product from Adesso again.

update: March 8 . Adesso issued an RMA after all ( coincidentally after I posted this review). And then they never send me a replacement after numerous phone calls and emails. AFter a little bit of hassle, Amazon kindly sent me a replacement. Unfortunately the replacement did the EXACT same thing as the first unit I received. So I guess that the Adesso keypad just doesn't work with mac 10.5 even though Adesso claims it does. I would say Adesso has some of the worst customer service I have encountered. Thank g*d Amazon came to the rescue with their excellent customer service!

I bought the adesso keypad with intent to use it with Mac OSX and windows XP. The device works flawlessly, I couldn't be happier. Plus it is a well built, sturdy design, and doesn't take up too much space/weight. The retractable cord is a great space saver for storing, but like all retractable usb cables, I can't help but worry a bit about it's durability. All in all though, the adesso keypad is an excellent buy.

I plugged this in and the iBook tried to "identify" the keyboard; it couldn't, but I just chose the United States option and all was well. Not as stylish as the one offered in white, but for me it is purely functional and works great for the price.

I am a teacher and bought this to speed up the process of entering grades on my laptop. My MacBook recognized it immediately. I carry it in my bag, so the zip feature of the USB is especially helpful. I do wish it was a bit longer, since the USB ports on the Mac are on the left, and I'm right handed. I have to pass the cable behind my laptop which then gives me less slack to position the keypad in my lap or on a chair arm, etc. But that's not enough to deter me from giving it a 5 rating. It sure has saved me a lot of grading time.

I've been using this for a couple of days now with my Macbook Pro. I find that it works just fine in Mac OS and also in Bootcamp. It did not recognize the keyboard upon installation but don't worry, just select the USA keyboard setting in the installation screen and it works fine.

I use this almost exclusively with Excel, and just as another reviewer said it would be great to have an ='s key so that I don't have to switch between keyboard and keypad so much. It doesn't bother me that much since I usually use ='s in conjunction with a function and parenthesis. Also I find that the 000 key is useful, yet a little annoying since I accidentally hit it with my thumb more than I would like.

Overall in terms of compatibility and portability this is a pretty good product. I would recommend it, though it is not quite perfect.

The Adesso keypad works very well with my MacBook Pro. I have to enter a lot of numbers with my job as a teacher, and bought this little keypad to make it easier. At first, I was a little discouraged because my MacBook Pro did not recognize it, and I could not set it up. However, one of the tech guys at my school showed me that if you simply connect it to the computer and then hold down the Num Lock button on the keypad for about 5 seconds, the computer recognizes it and it works great. It is very sturdy and comfortable to use. The retractable cord is just long enough to stretch around my computer and makes it easy to store the keypad in my backpack.

I bought this because it was the only one I could find that people said worked on both Windows and Mac. I tried it and it does - WinXP and Mac OS 10.5.5 on Macbook Pro. Just plug-n-play on either one and it worked.
Retractable cord is a nice touch.

I had a hard time finding a full sized number keypad for the mac. This on works great. The one thing that would make it better would be for it to tilt up so keying is more natural.

Had a Targus that said it was Mac compatible but it didn't work with MS Excel for Mac. This Adesso does work. Simple and portable. Great retractable cable. I just wish it had a "skin" for it.
