Adesso makes great budget lamps, and I was really please to find a decent replacement for the halogen torchieres. The lamp is fine, considering it is the bottom of the price range.

However, it arrived in a box that had been opened and resealed, evidently returned previously, and the aluminum threads were not in the greatest shape. Therefore the sections didn't screw into each other all the way. If this was going to be in a more visible area and I had more time, I would have returned it.

The lamp itself works great, but be prepared to have to completely clean it from top to bottom along with whichever room you decide to unpack it in. The lamp had what was almost like an oil residue on all the metal parts. The foam used to pack it gets everywhere with more static cling than I've ever experienced. We're still finding little pieces of foam packaging. The lamp knob comes off pretty easily, which can be remedied with a little super glue.

The first chance:

I ordered this lamp in Black from Amazon...

after THREE returns I still got stuck with one that Burns out bulbs (???)

if moved while turned on (even just bumped slightly)

...I treat it like a Halogen lamp...I only keep it on when I'm in the room....

..no one else is permitted to turn it on (afraid they'll forget it's on...and I don't

want to find out what Might happen

no other problems (...so far, fingers crossed)

Second Chance:

BUT I really like the 300 watts of light, the switch low on the stem

(instead of under the shade) AND the price point...

Soooo...I took a chance and ordered the silver one

Packaging is DISGUSTING...

of Styrofoam end up everywhere..

The base and pole are of top quality, very nice. But the shade is the cheapest piece of plastic I have ever seen, even cheaper feeling than anything from ikea. So while the rest of the lamp is great the shade makes it a real disappointment. Also, like Like other reviews, it is a real mess to clean up from packing.

Purchased this item and thought it would be a nice addittion to my den. It arrived on time, but from the moment I opened the box I was dissappointed. The lamp shade was the cheapest plastic I've ever seen! Where the pole screwed into the base, the threads were striped and couldn't be corrected. Wasn't worth sending it back for $70 because I needed a light asap. Poor quality light would not recommend this product.

THIS IS THE SECOND ADESSO LIGHTING WE HAVE. NO QUESTION THAT YOU WILL SEE THE STYLE OF LIGHT IN ANY BRAND. YOU CAN EASILY PICK UP ONE FROM THE LOCAL HD/LOWES WHY ADESSO? THE ONLY REASON I PURCHASED THIS LIGHT IT IS BECAUSE IT CAN GO UP TO 300WATT (150X2) AS YOU DO MORE RESEARCH YOU PROBABLY KNOW 99% OF THE LIGHTS OUT THERE IN THE SAME LOOK THEY DO UP TO 150 WATT (75X2) ONLY. I LIKE TO HAVE THE LIGHT THAT HAVING THE FLEXIBILTY TO MAX OUT THE LIGHT OUTPUT IF I WANT TO...SO I LOVE IT...ESP. FOR THIS PRICE ON AMAZON. YEAH!!!!

Could not find a 300W halogen torchiere, so bought this 300W (2-150W) incandescent. 150W bulbs are not easy to find, but it works fine with 100W bulbs. Manufacture of 100W incandescent will cease on Jan 1, 2012, thanks to our omniscient Congress.

With no lighting fixture in my room, I needed a very bright lamp. This lamp provides quite a bit of light and a good price. It is attractive, although the base isn't rock stable and the shade is acrylic.

I purchased this lamp because it was one of few that gave 150W light. It works really well in my office but is not enough lighting, so I still use the overhead fluorescent lighting at times. The lamp itself is very good looking and works just fine with 2 settings for brightness. The best part is that it gives off some heat, so since my office building is extremely cold from air conditioning in summer, this evens it out just fine. If you are stuck in a small office without air, this will be too hot. Still a great lamp for the price.

Great buy. Just what I was looking for. Quality is top of the line and the directions for assembly very clear.
