I had read the reviews here of all the Adesso LED lights and knew that the LED technology provides less lighting than incandescent or halogen bulbs and are more expensive to purchase, with the benefit of being much more energy-efficient, heating up less, and lasting basically the life of the product (there are no bulbs that can be changed, but they say they last up to 100,000 hours). However LED lights have not historically been used as lighting because the bottom line is that they don't project too much light, but they're great for traffic lights, etc.

However some companies now are trying to use them now as lights. Adesso failed at doing so. This light just insufficiently lights up a single page to read, and as you move from the center, there is slightly less light. You can read and there is no glare, but I don't think it's enough lighting. I've read reviews here of another LED lamp that uses many more LED lights than Adesso's 20, and it gets good reviews but costs a lot more.

Also, the gooseneck design is poor. As other users have noted, it doesn't maintain it's position, e.g. you have to overbend it in one direction to get it to settle back somewhere in between.

For $15 total (with their mail-out coupon) at BB&B I got a nice, attractive, stainless steel halogen desk lamp w/ 2 brightness settings (the lower setting provides enough illumination, much more than this lamp) with a gooseneck head that works perfectly.

Lastly, this is the second Adesso lamp I buy. I bought the first, a halogen desk lamp, refurbished here. Within 4 months it broke completely after just minimal usage and never falling, etc. I got a partial but not complete refund from Amazon since it was past 1 month. Adesso would not repair or replace it, just sent me a new bulb, which I had already tried, which worked for literally around a minute before burning out. I had assumed that that lamp was just a lemon and refurbished, but now I believe this company makes poorly-built lamps.

This lamp can't take the place of a table lamp, because the area it lights up is really just enough for one page of a book, but because the lamp is so adjustable, and the quality of light it produces is so good,we really like it. It's great for curling up in a cozy chair. What I like best about it is that print looks very crisp and clear with this light. I guess our other lights produce more glare; this one is very easy on my eyes. We also have a similar fluorescent lamp from Full Spectrum Solutions. My children hate it, and it tips over easily and breaks the expensive and somewhat hazardous bulb. This lamp is a lot safer around kids, but it cannot light up a whole room, or even one chair. Nevertheless, I plan to buy some more so we don't have to fight over it. I just hope they will make some in the future that have about 60 LED lights in them.

This lamp is easy to assemble and looks good. And I like the idea of the LED bulbs for energy conservation. However, the drawback is that the light is kind of blue in color, which is weird for reading, and it's not as bright as I expected it to be. I'm probably gong to keep it, but am a bit conflicted about it.

I received this product yesterday. Once I got it assembled, it worked as advertised. I find it very helpful to me as a reading lamp (I need very bright light on my material because of some eyesight problems.).

HOWEVER....

The lamp was designed more with its shipping package in mind than with ease of assembly. In order to fit into the smallest possible package, the lamp's main stem is divided into three tubes which screw together. Since the electrical cord runs inside the three tubes, excess cord is supplied. The purchaser is required to "pack" the excess cord into the tubes in order to allow them to mate up and screw closed. The instructions tell you to pack this cord down into Section D, the third of the tubes. GOOD LUCK! No way to do this. There is too much cord. One has to pack as much as possible into the first section, then pack as much as possible into the second, THEN pack the remainder into the third. It is very tedious going, since the internal space inside the the three tubes is VERY tight.

One other thing... the instructions say that the plug is polarized. Not so.

Somebody needs to relook at this overall design WITHOUT the packaging in mind. Not to do so is a disservice to those who buy the lamp -- and is VERY POOR product design practice.

This lamp is a triumph of style over substance. It looks nice, and the gooseneck would work well for positioning the lamp. But the lamp has only one LED and is way, way too dim to be useful for anything. If there's any outside light coming in through a window, you probably won't be able to even tell that it's on. Disappointing.

Purchased the Adesso floor lamp two years ago, 2 of them and we LOVE them. Perfect for what we were looking for- more of an unobtrusive small floor lamp, not really tall, but perfect height to aim towards a book when reading in bed and trying not to keep your partner awake. Everyone that sees them loves how they look. This is not a lamp that will light up the room, or do much other than aim a small area of bright light. Because of the flexibility of the goose neck, its possible to aim it directly where you want it to be. Its an LED light, which doesn't get hot, the light fixture is flat and small, brushed silver. The on off switch is located on stand, perfect height to reach over and turn it on or off.
