Quality music alert!,
By
This review is from: Adi Bende Sakli (Audio CD)
Sezen Aksu is a perfect example of how quality music can prevail over a foreign language and thus touch the heart of the listener. Sezen easiliy transmits emotions and - yes - even meaning, even if you don't speak Turkish. You simply hear out the sadness in her singing e.g. on "Ben sevdali sen belali", which is an incredibly beautiful ballad. I just pray that artists like her will find their entitled acknowledgment also internationally and break through this immense narrowmindedness of mainly the English speaking countries of refusing to accept any kind of music which is not sung in English - just have a look in the charts! On this outstanding album, which is one of her best, she fabulously reaches her musical hand from Turkey towards the west by singing melodiously over smooth Drum 'n' Bass beats as on "Kaderim", but has wonderfully melancholic traditional songs as well, as the fantastic "Yola cikmali". Also, the title track "Adi bende sakli", was written by Yorghos Stavrianos, an immensly gifted Greek songwriter and producer. Sezen is an ultimate institution in contemporary popmusic not only in Turkey, but in the whole middle East, in Germany and Europe in general, in a lot of the East-block countries (especially after her recent work with Goran Bregovic) and parts of the Arab world. She is BIG! You listen to her music, you listen to QUALITY. Now go! Discover! Buy this album! Be proud and spread the word!

The voice of Sezen takes me away, far away from the daily sorrows and leads me to something beautiful. Although I dont't understand Turkish, ( I know some words like; Merhaba, gule, gule)I can feel it.Thats the mistery of art which brings people together, leaving all ptrjudices and borders behind.

I have been listening to this album for couple of years and I am not tired of it. This album is her best. I like the fact that most of the songs in this album have a minimalistic but very effective musical composition. If you like trance mixed in with jazz and middle eastern beat, then this album is the first one you should listen to. Her "Deliveren" album is also very interesting but I would recommend starting with this particular album.

a legend,

This review is from: Adi Bende Sakli (Audio CD)
Sezen Aksu is a legend in Turkey. This is her latest and I believe her best so far. All her CDs don`t always hit the mark but invariably they are fresh and invigorating. You must be inclined to sorrowful melodies of the Middle East to really appreciate her. This album has Turkish melodies with Latin American rythms. Other CDs offered in Amazon are not as good.
