Large face, but not quite like in the product photos
on December 24, 2012
Please see the photos I uploaded to really understand the difference between the product photos and the actual product received. The slick product photos show high contrast white digits on a black background, but not even close in real life. The digits are actually a hard to read gray on a black background, which can be hard to read in some lighting. There is momentary blue backlighting when you press the upper left button. The spacing of the digits isn't as tight as in the product photos, either, so the display looks cheaper than what you'd expect.
The face is pretty massive, as if your watch were a 2011 iPod nano (the square one with touch screen), but without all the fancy features. If you're a short/small guy, this watch with thick wristband will look more like a sport wristband than a watch. After less than a day of owning the watch, I saw fine scratches on its face, so I think it would be worthwhile to get a screen protector. You can get generic screen protectors for digital camera displays at stores like Best Buy, and use the original plastic screen cover that originally covered the new watch face as a template to cut around.
The manual is just about useless, despite being about 1.5 cm thick. It's a general Adidas sport watch manual in several languages, and for many models, so you have to really spend time figuring out which instructions even apply to the watch you have.
An interesting note is that the watch is apparently made by Fossil, but licensed by Adidas, so there's likely a Fossil model that's identical to this watch, but sans Adidas branding.
