5.0 out of 5 stars Farewell AudioA!!!, August 1, 2006
By
This review is from: Adios - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
After 15 years of music and ministry, alternative rockers Audio Adrenaline are calling it a day at the end of 2006 but, don't think that AudioA is sneaking out of here quietly. No way. They're leaving with a bang with the release of "Adios" - a greatest hits collection that covers some of the band's most memorable songs over the past decade and a half. While the band had already released a hits collection in 2001 with "Hit Parade", "Adios" trims away the lesser known hits and adds several from the band's three post-Hit Parade CDs (Lift, Worldwide and the excellent Until My Heart Caves In). Altogether, this is probably as definitive as it gets.
For the die hard Adrenaline junkies, "Adios" is also available as a special edition that includes one bonus track as well as a DVD which features eight music videos, a photo gallery and a 40-minute documentary which features the members of AudioA giving a complete history of the band in their own words.
While it's going to be sad to see Audio Adrenaline leave us at the end of the year, it was and is still awesome to see what this band has done to further the Lord's Kingdom. They have definitely made a difference in the lives of their fans and those who just casually listened.
So from one Adrenaline junkie to AudioA, thanks for 15 years of ministry, great music and memories. You will be missed, definitely,
Farewell Audio Adrenaline and God Bless!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars At least they finished out on top, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Adios - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
If you want a great collection of music from one of the long time leaders in Christian Rock, check out this CD. It contains the very best of the very best of over a decade of music.

Originally I had debated buying this CD. Audio A already has a great hits compilation out that I already own called "Hit Parade" and a lot of good songs on there were not featured on this compilation. But there is one thing that this compilation has that the other doesn't... all the great songs they recorded in the last 5 years.

I kind of lost track of Audio A in the late 90s and early part of this century and they didn't seem to be in the spotlight like they were early on in their career. I pretty much thought they would just kinda fade out quietly like a lot of great Christian bands of the past but then they seemed to change directions a little bit and in 2003 and created probably their best album to date. That album was "Worldwide". That album really shows how talented these guys are as performers and as song writers. The three songs that are featured here from "Worldwide" on this collection are all now all Audio A classics. "Leaving 99" is a very Beatles/Lennonesque melodic song that is pleasent to listen to. My favorite though is "Miracle". The words really spoke to me especially the line where he says to God:

"Everything's beautiful
Now that you've ruined my life
You took my dreams
And stole my schemes
And turned my life upside down
You took my heart
Stole every part
And made it a miracle"

I can never get tired of this song. The other songs from the last 5 years featured are from their 2005 album "Until My Heart Caves In". I wasn't as big of a fan of that album because I tend to judge it by the album that came before it. It isn't a bad album, just isn't "Worldwide". Featured in this collection are the two best songs "King" and "Starting Over" that could have easily fit right in with the standard set with their 2003 masterpiece. "King" is the better of the two that the group has described as their first worship song and "Starting Over" is about innocence being robbed and, well as the title states, "Starting Over".

Of the newly recorded songs I only like "Goodbye" because it seems to be intended as a goodbye note to the fans who have stuck by the band all these years. I didn't care for "Blaze of Glory" all that much. Not that it is a bad song but I think a classic Audio A song would have been a better use of the space here.

It is too bad that the band has to split up (for the reason see the Note below). It seems that this decade they have grown and matured so much it will be sad not to see what would have been produced if they would have continued. Though one thing I will say is that is is always great to go out at the top of your game.

Thanks Audio A for 13 years of great Christian Rock and sharing your music with us!

-------
NOTE: This is Audio A's last album due to Mark Stuart being told by his doctor that he has to call it quits for health reasons. The reason why I bring this up is you have to see them when they come to a town near you on their final tour. I saw them in concert a few years back and they put on a show that is non-stop pure fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection!, August 24, 2006

This is a superb album that deserves to be in the collection of any fan of great Christian rock.

Audio Adrenaline is a supergroup with lots of great hits. Unfortunately, not all of them that should be in this collection are. In spite of that, it is excellent.

It contains many must-have songs by Audio Adrenaline such as 'Big House', 'Hands and Feet', 'King', and 'Ocean Floor'. Additionally, there is an excellent new song on this album -'Goodbye'.

Had I been putting together this collection, I would have definitely added in 'Walk On Water', 'Man of God', and 'I'm Not the King'. I think all of those should have been included, but they weren't.

In spite of that, you can't go wrong with this album. Buy it!
