This album is actually pretty good. It's just it didn't include that many hits!Sure, all the songs on here are hits, but it really doesn't do Audio Adrenaline much justice. It barely featured songs from the debut-some kind of zombie period. It should have been 2 disks with debut-underdog on one and Lift-Until my heart caves in on the other. If I had been in charge of the making...

After 15 years of music and ministry, alternative rockers Audio Adrenaline are calling it a day at the end of 2006 but, don't think that AudioA is sneaking out of here quietly. No way. They're leaving with a bang with the release of "Adios" - a greatest hits collection that covers some of the band's most memorable songs over the past decade and a half. While the band had already released a hits collection in 2001 with "Hit Parade", "Adios" trims away the lesser known hits and adds several from the band's three post-Hit Parade CDs (Lift, Worldwide and the excellent Until My Heart Caves In). Altogether, this is probably as definitive as it gets.
For the die hard Adrenaline junkies, "Adios" is also available as a special edition that includes one bonus track as well as a DVD which features eight music videos, a photo gallery and a 40-minute documentary which features the members of AudioA giving a complete history of the band in their own words.
While it's going to be sad to see Audio Adrenaline leave us at the end of the year, it was and is still awesome to see what this band has done to further the Lord's Kingdom. They have definitely made a difference in the lives of their fans and those who just casually listened.
So from one Adrenaline junkie to AudioA, thanks for 15 years of ministry, great music and memories. You will be missed, definitely,
Farewell Audio Adrenaline and God Bless!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars At least they finished out on top, August 10, 2006
This review is from: Adios - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
If you want a great collection of music from one of the long time leaders in Christian Rock, check out this CD. It contains the very best of the very best of over a decade of music.

Originally I had debated buying this CD. Audio A already has a great hits compilation out that I already own called "Hit Parade" and a lot of good songs on there were not featured on this compilation. But there is one thing that this compilation has that the other doesn't... all the great songs they recorded in the last 5 years.

I kind of lost track of Audio A in the late 90s and early part of this century and they didn't seem to be in the spotlight like they were early on in their career. I pretty much thought they would just kinda fade out quietly like a lot of great Christian bands of the past but then they seemed to change directions a little bit and in 2003 and created probably their best album to date. That album was "Worldwide". That album really shows how talented these guys are as performers and as song writers. The three songs that are featured here from "Worldwide" on this collection are all now all Audio A classics. "Leaving 99" is a very Beatles/Lennonesque melodic song that is pleasent to listen to. My favorite though is "Miracle". The words really spoke to me especially the line where he says to God:

"Everything's beautiful
Now that you've ruined my life
You took my dreams
And stole my schemes
And turned my life upside down
You took my heart
Stole every part
And made it a miracle"

I can never get tired of this song. The other songs from the last 5 years featured are from their 2005 album "Until My Heart Caves In". I wasn't as big of a fan of that album because I tend to judge it by the album that came before it. It isn't a bad album, just isn't "Worldwide". Featured in this collection are the two best songs "King" and "Starting Over" that could have easily fit right in with the standard set with their 2003 masterpiece. "King" is the better of the two that the group has described as their first worship song and "Starting Over" is about innocence being robbed and, well as the title states, "Starting Over".

Of the newly recorded songs I only like "Goodbye" because it seems to be intended as a goodbye note to the fans who have stuck by the band all these years. I didn't care for "Blaze of Glory" all that much. Not that it is a bad song but I think a classic Audio A song would have been a better use of the space here.

It is too bad that the band has to split up (for the reason see the Note below). It seems that this decade they have grown and matured so much it will be sad not to see what would have been produced if they would have continued. Though one thing I will say is that is is always great to go out at the top of your game.

Thanks Audio A for 13 years of great Christian Rock and sharing your music with us!

-------
NOTE: This is Audio A's last album due to Mark Stuart being told by his doctor that he has to call it quits for health reasons. The reason why I bring this up is you have to see them when they come to a town near you on their final tour. I saw them in concert a few years back and they put on a show that is non-stop pure fun.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Collection!, August 24, 2006

This is a superb album that deserves to be in the collection of any fan of great Christian rock.

Audio Adrenaline is a supergroup with lots of great hits. Unfortunately, not all of them that should be in this collection are. In spite of that, it is excellent.

It contains many must-have songs by Audio Adrenaline such as 'Big House', 'Hands and Feet', 'King', and 'Ocean Floor'. Additionally, there is an excellent new song on this album -'Goodbye'.

Had I been putting together this collection, I would have definitely added in 'Walk On Water', 'Man of God', and 'I'm Not the King'. I think all of those should have been included, but they weren't.

In spite of that, you can't go wrong with this album. Buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars A great way to go out, September 2, 2006
This review is from: Adios - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I am truly sad to see these guys go as you can tell by my nickname I am a huge classic rock fan but no matter who I listened to I always came back to these guys. They are Christian Rock at its best. I have all of their albums from their self-titled debut to this one. I'm still going to wait for their anthology but I don't think its going to happen.

This album combines hit parade with their three post hit parade albums plus a few new songs. My favorite song "Some Kind Of Zombie". Some might say it is missing some songs but doesn't every hits collection miss songs that is why you buy the individual albums so you can make your own greatest hits album. This is their favorites.

This is a great album to own if your a fan of music. These guys have given us 15 years of faith, fellowship, and fun. And they will truly be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome way to say "Adios", October 2, 2006
This review is from: Adios - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
For me, I've never been really big on Audio Adrenaline. Most of the songs on their albums have been hit or miss so it was never worth it for me to own an album of theirs. Even their old greatest hits album didn't work for me, but not this one. This one's chunky. It has the best of the best of their songs (minus "Dirty" from Worldwide) and what better way can one say "Goodbye" while going out in a "Blaze of Glory"? I reccomend this cd to fans and "hit or miss" folk like myself.

4.0 out of 5 stars Goodbye Audio Adrenaline, December 24, 2011

After about 15 years in the Christian music industry, I'm sure most were sad to say goodbye to these guys! "Adios" This greatest hits collection is nothing but the best with several of their number one hits. Even thought this collection is from 2006, I recently bought it for the song "Big House" which I heard on Pandora. When I bought it, I was new on the Christian Pop scene and had no idea it was an older production. Even though this collection is older, it still fits in with todays contemporary style as if it were newly produced. This CD offers a little bit of everything from upbeat dance style to gritty and blues style. I have enjoyed this CD over and over and I hope you do as well. Adios - The Greatest Hits

This CD is nothing short of awesome. These guys, as musicians, are outstanding, and their praise and worship of God is inspiring. This CD is well worth the money; none of the tracks are disappointing!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Hits... Nearly, January 10, 2008
This review is from: Adios - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
The hardest thing for an artist to do is release a greatest hits album. Do you pick fan-favorites? Most successful or popular? Best lyrics? Best music? Band's favorite? Nobody will end up totally happy. With this album, I think the band left out most of the fan-favorites. Where's the "Houseplant Song?" How about their magnificent cover of "Free Ride?" Don't tell me they left out "Clap Your Hands?"

Most are great selections for the band. But some of the new songs leave something to be desired. "Goodbye" is your standard goodbye song, maybe a little cliched, but hey, it's a goodbye song. And I thought "Blaze Of Glory" was a cover of the Bon Jovi song, where it came from I don't know, it's a cover of some other group I know. Weird addition. And for those of you who got the special edition, "Down In The Lowlands" is an excellent song. Mark Stuart is spotlighted on this song, and boy does he shine.

Overall, get the special edition if you're going to get the album. If you have the rest of Audio A's albums, download "Down In The Lowlands." It's a must have for any fan. Thanks Audio A, you'll be missed.

5.0 out of 5 stars Here, There or on the Air, September 3, 2007
This review is from: Adios - The Greatest Hits (Audio CD)
I don't care much what first name music has: Alt, Folk, Acid, Pop, Country, Gospel, so long as its last name is "Rock". To me it's all to the good when bands like AA, which started pop move more and more rock, albeit of various kinds. I was attracted to this CD after hearing two songs on, believe it or not, the radio: Leaving 99, and Get Down. While I hoped for more of the same, I must say I was absolutely won over by the latest Jay Joyce produced numbers. Not to mention the John Hampton produced Chevette. Arguably, some bits suggest Eminem, U2 or Switchfoot, and I don't mean the writing or delivery, but the production style. My big gripe with ccm from its inception is forcing bands like AA into production styles of then- current acts. Mike Knott, as many know, parodied this as "Nash- Vegas production, and it is this blinkered view of producing, not any lack of talent, drive or creativity on their part, that locks so many acts in a copy-cat format under the oft- derided rubric of ccm.

That said, were I to hear some of these songs in the middle of alt radio, I would perk up as I do when I hear U2; in the absolutely tired overdone top ten alternative in name only format that passes as "alternative" things are done to death and freighted with innuendo. I long ago switched from radio to CDs in the car, and wear out discs like Leeland, Larry Norman and this one when I rarely come upon them. One thing great is that AA lists all the members as the songwriters. This is significant because the writer gets a bigger cut of the song royalties, and infighting often causes bands to break up.

Everything about Adios tells me that this would be a great band in concert (or was during the last fifteen years). Everywhere I hear echoes of my favorite bands, and there's even a cover of "Blaze of Glory" by the Welsh band, The Alarm, one of two songs new to this collection, and one of two lyrics printed in the booklet. The other is another rocker, Goodbye. As with the O.C. Supertones, AA has gone out with a bang (the farewell from Hawaii concert has almost the same song list as this disc). But with talent, creativity and an attitude as great as this, I'm sure we'll hear from them again, together or solo, here, there, or on the air.
