Finally, she is taking a bottle,
This is a godsend. Our baby took a bottle for 3 weeks and then stopped. She simply refused to drink from a bottle for 4 weeks. Finally we heard about the Adiri bottle. My wife went out Saturday morning and as soon as I offered this bottle to our baby she immediately began to feed. It was absolutely fantastic! I don't know what we would have done because we already tried switching bottles, switching nipples, and everything else we could think of. Fantastic product.

I had to write this review immediately! I am leaving on an international business trip for 4 days next week. I made a decision to pump and leave our 3-month old at home with a loving nanny and daddy. I have been pumping for weeks now, saving every precious last drop. In the past months, we have tried every bottle and she will not take any. Dr. Browns, Advent, Playtex, etc. She will take it if she is starving but even then resists and won't take the nipple or start to really suck, mostly playing and chewing it. I received the Adiri today along with the Nuby Natural Touch bottle. I had heard both of these may leak so tried them with water first, and was excited to test them out.
The Nuby leaked like I have never seen. And no matter what we tried, with all the various parts, we could not get it to stop leaking. I cannot even imagine what I would do if it was breast milk I had tried instead of water. I think I will throw it away - it's not even worth giving it to someone it leaks so badly and returning it will cost more time and shipping than what it costs to buy it. HORRIBLE. So then came the Adiri. It is beautifully designed, a 2-piece solid plastic base with a softer top with very natural nipple. The bottom does screw on and you need to put your finger on the top of the nipple to avoid any leaking. I tried it once, it did leak a bit, you have to just screw it on straight and make sure it is tight - not a problem at all. Then here is the best part - I put my freshly pumped 3-oz of milk in the bottle, and my daughter started drinking from it RIGHT AWAY. In just the same way she drinks from my breast. She even put her hands up like she does when she is feeding and her eyes got all droopy and sleepy while eating. I burped her after a few ounces and she went at it again, sipping every last drop and then was the happiest I have seen her all day. There is a little vent at the bottom which allows air to escape and keeps air from getting into the milk. So I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this bottle - I'm going to buy a few more immediately and can now go out of town with some peace of mind that she is not going to be screaming and starving while I am gone. --------------------------- 6 months later ----------------------------- I see why all the people wrote abut the bottle leaking. We now have about 15 of these bottles in all colors (the dog ate about 6 of them, we keep buying them) and now I see why they leak. It is so frustrating to have multiple reasons why these bottles lose precious breastmilk all over the floor, even when the bottom is carefully screwed on tight. I am SO frustrated I want to throw all of these away but my daughter still prefers them over Advent, Playtex or Dr. Brown's. So here is the deal: 1) BOTTOM SCREWED ON CORRECTLY: It is true, if you don't screw the bottom on straight and take the time to do it really tight, it leaks. But the weird thing is - you screw it on tight, and then you check it and it's OK, and then you find it is leaking and it is NOT on tight. The only explanation I could think of for this is the bottom of the different colored bottles are different sizes, slightly, and they do not fit the same on each bottle. But you cannot tell the difference between them so I am not sure what is going on here. 2) PLASTIC PIECE DIFFERENT SIZES: Again, this is because there are two different bottoms to the bottles. The plastic circle attached to the bottom pieces are DIFFERENT SIZES. These need to match with the different size bottoms - it's hard to explain but there large and small circles on the bottom and large and small pieces of plastic that attach, and obviously if you get the large piece on the small circle, you get leaking. Major leaking. Once we figured that out it is a no brainer, but it was really confusing. 3) NO REASON AT ALL LEAKING: I have no idea why my bottle kept leaking last night, which prompted me to look up my old review and add onto it. I think it is the size of the bottom not matching the top (we have all three sizes now) but I am not sure. So to summarize, this bottle is great because it is the only one our daughter would ever take and still takes - however it is impossible to warm, it is awkward to fill upside down (you just put your finger on the nipple while filling) and it leaks all the time. I think once you get several sizes / colors of these, the issues are exponential. Our daughter is 9.5 months now and I am trying to graduate her to Advent and other bottles but at night these are all she will take (or my breast) so we have to deal with them - I am sure the manufacturers are having a time with this, I have even heard these bottles are no longer being produced which is really sad because they are a great concept and overall design. It is just flawed and frustrating for parents!

I tried this since my baby would not take a bottle, but it did not help us out. I heard of it as a recommendation from a friend, whose baby would only take this bottle. So although it did not work for me, that's not the case for everyone. It is a great idea and wonderful design.

Interesting Concept,
The idea behind the design of this bottle is pretty fantastic. When I discovered this bottle, I put it on our baby registry before the arrival of our newborn. I figured it'd be a good way to transition between breast and bottle, so my spouse could feed our daughter expressed breastmilk when I needed to be away from the house. We introduced the bottle at about 3 weeks, and she seemed to take it okay, BUT it was a huge mess. When she nurses, she doesn't really leak milk all over herself. When she takes the bottle, however, milk goes EVERYWHERE. It's not that the bottle is leaking but that the drip must be too fast (and we haven't adjusted the flow to increase it because she's still a newborn). Maybe some of this has to do with distinguishing between bottle and breast nipples, but I'm not sure that's what it is. Perhaps this bottle is a better design for older babies. Time will tell.

Okay, My husband and i have tried for months to get my, now 4 month old to take a bottle. She only likes the boom (breast). But i was going out of town for a few days and it was imperative that she took a bottle. FINALLY i saw these online and thought i would give it one more try. And she took it, not fully, but better than any other bottle. with the other bottles the nipple was just to long, and she would gag. My poor baby. So we worked with her every night, and by the time i left she was a pro. Now she only takes this bottle with her daddy, when she's with me she's not having anything other than the boom. which is fine with me, my little diva!

I bought this looking for something more like a breast because my baby didn't seem to like a regular bottle and nipple; but sometimes it's necessary for him to take a bottle. I haven't had any problems with it leaking like others have written. It does seem to be a little better than a regular bottle but not exactly like a breast. I'm still pleased with this.

Thank this product! It makes my little niece accept bottle feeding and sets her mommy free! My niece refused all other kinds of bottles. She can cry for hours with an empty stomuch and still turn her head away from those bottles filled with her mom's milk. But, amazingly, she accept this breastbottle immediatly!

These are the best bottles ever. My son is breastfed and he refused to take every bottle I tried. I tried over 6 different types of bottles including the Breastflow bottle and he would not have any of them. I got this bottle in the mail and it's the only one he would even latch on to. The flow was a little too fast for him, so I ordered the slow flow and he took to it like a charm. Would recommend this bottle a lot and to everyone who breastfeeds.

Baby loves it, Mommy doesn't!,

My daughter is exclusively breastfed and I thought I did adequate research to purchase a bottle. My primary concern was to get a safe bottle that would not result in the dreaded "nipple confusion" (bottle vs. breast nipple). The Adiri met my concerns. I tried about two or three other, less expensive brands with lackluster results (those bottles also addressed my concerns, but baby didn't care for them). I had read other reviews on other sites that suggested that this bottle would be a pain to use, but I figured that because I would follow the directions to the letter, I wouldn't have the same problems.
Well now I am in the category of people who wishes I never introduced this to my now 14 month-old daughter. She has been using it since about 3 months and loves it, but I find this bottle annoying to use. You really do have to read the directions and use it as instructed. All of the pieces (especially the petal) MUST be completely dry before filling it, or you will have leaks. Also, you must place the nipple/bottle correctly in the cover and then twist the bottom piece precisely, also to avoid leaks. If you have someone over about age 50 babysitting, you will have to explain this bottle's unusual design and quirks and hope that that person has the patience to go through what you do just to bottlefeed your baby. For example, they won't be able to warm this bottle by placing it in hot water because the contraption must be kept dry to avoid leaks!! Oh, and if the nipple becomes damaged due to your baby chewing on it (e.g.), then you cannot just replace the nipple, you must replace the whole bottle since it is one piece (to be fair, the current advertised price on Amazon is half of what I paid in the popular box baby store). The bottom line is, if your child will use another more typically constructed bottle, you may be better off in the long run. Me, I can't wait to wean her off this bottle (she uses a safety cup for water and juice, but refuses to drink breastmilk from anything else but the Adiri). |
