Adirondack Detective III and NOW: Adirondack Detective Goes Wets!,
By John Maxey (Verona, NY) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Adirondack Detective III (Paperback)
I've just finished John Briant's latest page turner "Adirondack Detective Goes West", and I must say he has hit another literary home run, just like he did in Adirondack Detective III; I thought this book was great but Adirondack Detective Goes West is even better, Briant's stories just keep getting better and better. With the story of Jason Black, Private Investigator, heading across the country with his newly pregnant wife Patty to help an old Marine Corps buddy solve a mystery in Casa Grande, Arizona; John Briant has the reader on the edge of his seat while Jason methodically solves the enigmatic mystery he's been asked to work on. But as the reader follows this exciting story, he gets the added bonus of following a number of story lines all woven together by Mr. Briant in a tapestry of literary delight: John Briant tells the story of Jason's and Patty's love for each other and gives us all a lesson in how a marriage should be; he tells us the story of life in and around Phoenix/Casa Grande/Tucson Arizona; he shows us the story of how friendship should be between people, including both new and old friends in the American South West, and back home in the Adirondack Mountains and Central New York State. I for one found this book to be doubly exciting as I am familiar with the main Adirondack setting for John Briant's earlier books, but I am also familiar with the "Adirondack Detective Goes West" setting of Casa Grande/Phoenix Arizona as I once lived in this region for a summer many years ago while I worked the underground copper mine outside Casa Grande. John you have written a book that had a special meaning for me because of my past experiences in "The Wild West", but I think any reader will find this book a special read and the enjoyment after turning the last page leaves us all thirsting for more...like looking for some Adirondack Spring water on a hot Arizona afternoon! Let me just say that as an avid reader, I see in this book that Mr. Briant continues to develop characters and personalities and themes that leave me looking for many more additions to the "Adirondack Detective Series" of books. Thank you Mr. Briant and I expect to be hearing more from Jason and Patty Black and the rest of the old gang in Old Forge and (hopefully) the new gang in Arizona. So read A.D. III, then jump right into A.D. Goes West!
